- Kieffer Moore is available for Rob Page, but the Wales boss loses Ethan Ampadu due to suspension.
- Moore may make an immediate return to the XI in place of Gareth Bale, who Page has confirmed will not start against Belgium.
- Chris Mepham is the man likely to replace Ampadu in the side, with Page potentially naming an unchanged XI other than that for the welcome of Belgium.
- Belgium boss Roberto Martinez is expected to make a couple of changes to his XI for their trip to Wales.
- Dries Mertens was introduced with 20 minutes to play and could start, while Thorgan Hazard replaced brother Eden on the hour mark and having scored, the pair could swap places in the side.
Wales 1-1 Belgium (number one in the world according to FIFA)
No Bale, no problem. :)
YEEEEEESSSSSSS!
What a save!
Both to score.
Wales have a dilemma here. They may come out of the block hard and fast like they did against Belarus but if they do they could leave themselves vulnerable to an early counter attack, e.g. Connor Roberts might be too eager to get forwards and leave a gap. Equally sitting back for 90 minutes and trying to keep a draw and giving up the initiative is unlikely to maintain the crowd momentum from Saturday. Similarly, against Belarus, the Welsh defence chose so some bold and risky passes that a team like Belgium might punish. Nevertheless, Neco Williams was brilliant and Ramsey is always dangerous. Even if a half-fit Bale does play he'll make space for the other players. Hopefully, no one gets sent off and Wales will find a way. I'm going to be brave: Wales 1-1 Belgium
Since October 2013 Wales have only lost one of their five matches against Belgium: P5 W2 D2 L1 gf6 ga5. At home Wales have only lost two of their previous 19 World Cup qualifying matches. Nevertheless, Belgium are still ranked 1st in the world by FIFA and will be considered by the vast majority to be favourites. Belgium themselves are unbeaten in last 27 World Cup qualifiers.
@MEHJones the meetings between them are interesting because it's not the first time they play a last qualifier game against each other.Wales won 1-0 the last meeting of this kind after a draw 1-1 in Belgium for WC 2014.
Bale has not been named in the 23 man squad for tonights game.
I don't get how this works. If Wales finishes second in the group, who will get that play-off spot ? From Nations League. Will it be Austria,Slovenia or Czech Republic? Slovenia played in a lower league.
@alxdru ok i got it... Czech Republic and Wales have already a play-off spot guaranteed, they only fight for the second place in this group.I think some words are missing in the preview of Czech-Estonia
@alxdru you are correct that it's not as clear as it could be.
Wales captain Gareth Bale will not start in Tuesday's World Cup qualifier against Belgium as he continues his recovery from a hamstring injury.
