Dundee United
- Ange Postecolgou made three changes from the Celtic side that fell to a 1-0 defeat away at Livingston last weekend, before they secured their passage to the Premier Sports Cup semi-finals with a 3-0 win against Raith Rovers in midweek.
- Carl Starfelt was straight back in to start against the Championship side. The Swede was joined in the back four by Anthony Ralston and Adam Montgomery, both of whom were on the bench against Livi in West Lothian.
- Liam Scales made his Hoops debut against Raith Rovers after signing from Shamrock Rovers in the summer. However, fellow summer signing Georgios Giakoumakis is yet to make his Celtic debut since signing from VVV-Venlo.
- Tam Courts made four changes despite United proving victorious in the Dundee derby with a 1-0 win at Dens, as they crashed out of the Premier Sports Cup quarter finals with a 3-1 defeat to Hibernian at Tannadice in midweek.
- Trevor Carson returned between the sticks, despite Benji Siegrist keeping a clean sheet against their city rivals. Kieran Freeman replaced Kerr Smith at right-back as United resorted to their accustomed 4-3-3 formation.
- Dylan Levitt replaced Calum Butcher in the middle of the park, joined by Jeando Fuchs and derby matchwinner Ian Harkes. Nicky Clark replaced Ilmari Niskanen with Marc McNulty and Peter Pawlett supporting him up front.
