Team News
Brentford
Arsenal
- Thomas Frank has confirmed star striker Ivan Toney will start against Arsenal after a mini-injury scare.
- However, Josh Dasilva is a long-term absentee and Mathias Jensen won't be risked after missing all of pre-season.
- New signing Kris Ajer got his first outing for Brentford in their final pre-season game against Valencia and Frank went with a back three. Christian Nørgaard could move into midfield with Ajer now an option for defence.
- Frank Oneya scored against Valencia last time out and Brentford's new midfielder will be desperate to get a full debut on Friday night.
- David Raya Martin was linked with Arsenal at the start of the year but will now get to play against the Gunners in the Premier League.
- Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will both miss Arsenal's game with Brentford due to illness.
- With Eddie Nketiah already sidelined, Mikel Arteta will have to get creative up front. Folarin Balogun and Gabriel Martinelli are options but we could see a very fluid front three of Nicolas Pepe, Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe.
- Big money signing Ben White will go straight into the team for his Arsenal debut on Friday.
- With Gabriel unavailable and Rob Holding a fitness concern, Pablo Mari could partner White here.
- With Thomas Partey out for three weeks, new signing Albert Sambi Lokonga could make his full debut straight away in a midfield three for the Gunners.
Arsenal surprised no one
@YZT Not with this starting 11
That is the place where Arsenal should be without Wenger.
OMG Brentford returned to the EPL after about 74 years and beat Arsenal, that's incredible. And what's a pretty 1st goal!.
Arsenal in last place, Brentford top. Perfectly balanced, as all things should be
I'm no Arsenal fan, but wasn't that a clear foul where defender locked Lenos arms when the corner was taken? Seems absurd this was allowed.
@libehv the keeper has to be more aggressive.foul nonetheless. 2 errors from Leno for me.
Arsenal are so many, many years away from winning the prem
Artetas job under threat already.Ben white looks terrible value at 50 million.
Arteta OUT.
@Djhusha Or... Arsenal OUT.
Arsenal have looked shocking.
Both to score.
Cant wait to see Toney and Mbeumo playing in the top flight
@Filipito Great Score for the Bees, disappointed the 2 aforementioned didn't score tonight but I have a feeling we'll see a lot more of them soon. High Hopes for Brentford :)
Brentford to win, Assenal in the mud and 20th place for now
With Auba and Laca 'sick', I think Arsenal will score less goals. The omissions will give Brentford a boost. Could mean this match will see numerous chances for both teams.
Over 2.5 goals
Over 1.5
Brentford to teach Arsenal some real good soccer.. 3-1 or 3-2
Brentford coach Thomas Frank says Brentford will attack every game in the EPL instead of having a '10 man defence'.
After 73 years waited for a first top flight football to the premier league, the ball must row and also a London team this called for Home game!
@Halo oops accidentally clicked on report.
@Halo Apparently the last match Brentford played in the top flight was also against Arsenal.
*also first game of the season like last year is what I mean
This reminds me of last year newly promoted team with a passing game at home vs Arsenal. 1-3
Brentford - Arsenal 0:1(0:0)
Red card for arsenal
bits in both halves 2-2 or 3-3
Lokonga will start but Arsenal will not win this match. Agree with WhoScored.com. Also, the autoplaying videos are really annoying. Brentford 1 - Arsenal 0
@Overmars agree so annoying
@Overmars and it will just be popping out from every corner of my screen. Pls #WhoScored do something about it
@Gabozoy get rid of it. Not sure it will even make them any money from the ad revenue.
Best of luck, Arsenal
Brentfords passing game will suit a Strong Arsenal side.Arsenal to win 3-1.
Both teams to score
1-3
