- Chelsea re-signed Romelu Lukaku on Thursday night but he now has to quarantine so will miss their opening match against Crystal Palace.
- Hakim Ziyech is ruled out for Chelsea after suffering a shoulder injury in Wednesday's Super Cup win over Villarreal.
- N'Golo Kante may also miss out after picking up a small problem in the victory. Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic look good to start here.
- Trevor Chalobah has played his way into contention at centre-back after a really impressive pre-season.
- Andreas Christensen, Mason Mount and Cesar Azpilicueta all got their first minutes of pre-season in midweek.
- Thiago Silva, Ben Chilwell and Reece James didn't feature on Wednesday so are perhaps unlikely to start here.
- Chelsea loanee Conor Gallagher can't face his parent club so will have to wait for his Crystal Palace debut. Fellow midfielder Luka Milivojevic is unavailable due to personal reasons.
- Marc Guehi's first ever game in the Premier League will come against his boyhood club and team he left permanently in the summer.
- Palace supporters excited by the prospect of a Guehi and Joachim Andersen partnership may have to wait as the latter didn't feature in pre-season. Cheikhou Kouyate may continue at the back for now.
- Jean-Philippe Mateta looks set to start the season up front ahead of Christian Benteke after featuring heavily in pre-season.
- Palace's fourth signing of the summer to date, Michael Olise, looks set to miss out on Saturday with a back injury, while Nathan Ferguson and Eberechi Eze are long-term absentees.
