Team News

Newcastle
Leeds
  • Steve Bruce has confirmed Joe Willock, Ciaran Clark and Javier Manquillo are fine despite sustaining knocks in the 4-1 loss to Manchester United last weekend.
  • Martin Dubravka, Callum Wilson and Jonjo Shelvey will all miss the welcome of Leeds, but Ryan Fraser should make the squad.
  • Federico Fernandez and Fabian Schar could both come into the defence, with Isaac Hayden moving back into midfield.
  • Karl Darlow looks set to start in goal after Freddie Woodman's nightmare performance in goal against United.
  • Dwight Gayle may not feature for a while after a reported training ground bust-up with a member of Newcastle's coaching staff.
  • Pascal Struijk is suspended after his red against Liverpool, and he joins Diego Llorente, Robin Koch on the sidelines.
  • With three centre-backs out, Luke Ayling may move inside to centre-back with Stuart Dallas deputising at right-back.
  • Mateusz Klich was fit enough to make the bench on Sunday and may start in midfield. Adam Forshaw should make the squad.

Prediction

  • A 4-1 loss at Manchester United leaves Newcastle one point and one place off the foot of the table. They lost both meetings with Leeds last season, but may feel confident of putting a first win on the board on Friday night.
  • That's because Leeds, like Newcastle, have also made a poor start to the campaign. The Whites have picked up just two points from their four games this season, while only Newcastle (12) have conceded more league goals than Leeds (11) this season.
  • Both sides have endured their opening round struggles, but Leeds will be backed to secure that first win of the campaign in what may be a repeat of last season's result at St. James' Park.

  • how can Darlow be MOTM ahead of Saint-Maximin LOOL these Whoscored ratings make no sense Darlow was getting his rating increased for saving shots that were more like back passes! Also ASM defo completed more than 2 dribbles!

  • @chelseajf5 ASM is MOTM now.

  • Bruce is facing the sack if he loses.

  • @Rensen Bruce just signed 4yrs contract with the club

  • @Rensen he looks like he's fighting for his life as he's screaming at the players and scrutinising. Not often do you see an angry Steve Bruce.

  • 1-3 Leeds

  • It should be a leeds win,but with ayling in cb is gonna be a draw

  • Referee M. Dean Over 20.5 fouls here +++++

  • Ayling is a huge liability in defence

  • Newcastle - Leeds 2:2(1:0)

  • Double chance: X2
