Team News
Chelsea
Brighton
- N'Golo Kante has trained since suffering a knee injury against Aston Villa on Boxing Day but is unlikely to feature here. Kai Havertz is also back in training.
- Thiago Silva also went off injured in the 3-1 win on Boxing Day and won't feature against Brighton as a result.
- Thomas Tuchel has been very cautious using Romelu Lukaku since he recovered from injury so it wouldn't surprise if he was on the bench again here despite scoring on Sunday.
- Saul Niguez or Callum Hudson-Odoi may have to play at left wing-back to give Marcos Alonso a rest ahead of their clash with Liverpool in the New Year.
- Yves Bissouma is back available after missing their 2-0 win over Brentford through suspension on Boxing Day.
- A late decision will have to be made on Leandro Trossard, who came off in the win with a tight hamstring. Joel Veltman is still a doubt after missing out on Sunday.
- Danny Welbeck is pushing for his first Premier League start since September when Brighton travel to Stamford Bridge.
- Adam Lallana may have to be assessed due to the sharp turnaround between matches, while Tariq Lamptey will hope to start at his former club.
Oil Money are going to win the league yet again. Shocking.
@uefalona What is that supposed to mean ? Any Topteam has a rich sponsor
@neumi17 you're funny if you think they're the same as other top teams. Only them, psg, and newcastle are owned by countries
YEAH BUDDY LES'GOOOO!
Chelsea mugs lol City laughing at Liverpool and Chelsea.
Lol
@childishjp clown
@Chilly_B rattled.
@childishjp rattled you enough to comment lol
@Chilly_B You're so easy to trigger it's amazing.
@childishjp I'm the easy one to trigger? Lol
@Chilly_B You are and you know it
Karma strikes back, outplayed by Brighton at home.
@Byakuya last I checked we were 2nd and you are....
@Chilly_B Last you checked, you won the title? Make it 3rd, Liverpool have a game in hand and playing better.
@Byakuya lol, and I thought I was bad for "twerking for my biggest rivals" you would rather if City won the UCL just to clown on Chilly B on whoscored lol
@Chilly_B fighting over foorball? Shows how stupid you are.
@Chilly_B Stating a fact is twerking? Just as expected from someone with no sight of intelligence like you, even your beloved Lukaku wants to leave your pathetic team already after a few months.
@Byakuya below Arsenal and West Ham and thinks he can speak lol
@Chilly_B You forgot once again that there's still long way to go, just like how you thought race is over.
Well deserved for Brighton. Chelsea looked really frail.
Tuchel's Mourinho-esque tactics punished again. Will Abramowicz soon hire Mourinho again:)?
@koziol.mutant Why should he? When he already has Tuchel! LOL
Yes!!!! Amazing Brighton, an amazing game they have played.
In this "wonderful" Premiership we have to settle for great goalkeeping performances because the forwards and the offensive midfielders are garbage! For God's sake: I want to see goals - I don't give a damn about boring 1-0 and 0-1 games! And even those goals are from set pieces for the most part - set pieces that are usually the trademarks of teams fighting against relegation! LOL
Kante is such a brilliant player. He alone lifts Chelsea above the level of an average squad.
Now, in the 64' I am writing this: all Premiership top teams have such a loser mentality - Chelsea is sitting on a meager 1-0 lead inviting Brighton to take one point and I suspect that Brighton will do so. Manchester City is doing the same thing..... And these are top Premiership teams????! Give me a break!
@Zoltan I am incredibly happy that Loser Chelsea managed to settle for 1 point: all the loser Premiership teams who do not want to play and want to preserve a minimal lead like Chelsea should suffer like this! They deserve it!!! LOL
@Zoltan are you delusional or insane lol
@Zoltan quit whining man. It's the most exciting league in the world.
Chelsea will not win this.Just laid them on betfair 2k @ 1.25 odds.
@nexus747 Then you got incredibly lucky my friend. The Brighton goal was in the 91st minute: that means that you won by chance! Chelsea almost pulled off the 1-0. I would never bet in such a situation - much less 2k....
Brighton is playing so well. They have some top talents playing.
Brighton are causing problems even though losing 1-0.Chelsea are sitting back too much.
Chelsea's entire attack is unworthy of a top English team. While the completion has these devastating attacks in players like Salah, Mane, Mahrez, etc. Chelsea signs freaking Lukaku. Get rid of them all, Lukaku, Ziyech, Hudson, Werner en Havertz.
@Gewoonmoi freaks lol
Was it just me or did James have a shot on target?
Lukaku is a terrible player, but he knows how to score a goal!
@Gewoonmoi Terrible player based on what? He's a world class striker.
@MrNemobody he wouldn't be allowed to sit on the bench of city and Liverpool, that's how world class he is. The man can barely hold a ball.
Chelsea 2-0. That's the back 3 that played most of the Champions League Final. Should shut out Brighton who struggle to score usually. I'd say Mount and Pulisic to score
@Chilly_B Big Rom too lets go! lol
@KingKeno you called it
Chelsea 3-1
Nice to see Lukaku starts in a strong team and Chelsea also have a strong bench.
@Rensen Lukaku's first league start since October 16th vs Brentford
Brighton have 0 wins 6 losses and 3 draws in this fixture dating back to 2017. Potter was able to muster a 0-0 draw in his only encounter with Tuchel. Brighton 2nd team guys aren't that far off the first team players in terms of quality so they may handle the short turn-around a bit easier. Also consider they have played just 2 matches in the month of December. Chelsea have a big match with Liverpool on Sunday, I think Grahams guys could catch Chelsea looking ahead and come away with another draw here. Brighton at +1.25 goals? I'll risk on that comfortably here.
@FootyFiyah Are you normal ?
@saWyer I'm always thinking against the grain much to my detriment, when it works out I look like a genius, but most of my posts are just me thinking out loud. I admire what Potter has done there with the talent he has, results like these are in my opinion because of the Gaffer. I'd be interested to see what he could pull off with a top tier club.
I will add that Brighton have kept the score close only City[4-1] Aston Villa[2-0] and Everton 2-0 were able to outscore Brighton by 2 or more goals this season.the match against Everton was the first of the season.
Lukaku and Kovacic are must-starts. Ziyech and possibly Alonso are must nots
@Chilly_B This is another perfect game for Big Rom to dominate, he's gonna be full of confidence following on from the last game & should terrorise the seagulls defence today. Kova is being nursed back in gently so he doesn't do further damage, as is Kante which is frustrating as a fan as they're the guys we wanna see in the middle of the park but we have to respect their human frailties & respect TT for managing them that way. Ziyech is generally more effective off the bench but I think he's a bit lightweight for the the EPL IMHO. As i mentioned before, Alonso is lucky he's the only available LWB at the club, although he thinks he's a LW & plays like that but, it ain't practical & costs us all to often. The results speak for themselves since he's been back in the starting line-up... Expect a home win with plenty of goals, over 2.5, Rom anytime scorer & a Jorginho 12yarder
@Chilly_B pretty pathetic if Lukaku is your main guy. ziyech has been solid. And what's wrong with Alonso?
@Yassine_1 also when did I say lukaku was our main guy lmao? He was amazing off the bench on Sunday and our performance improved so obviously he should start
@Yassine_1 obviously haven't watched any games lol. It's simply a fact that we are less creative when Ziyech is on the pitch. And don't make me laugh about Alonso...
@Chilly_B who of Chelsea's attack has been playing better than him? It's Tuchel's job to find space for his talent pool. He has made it clear from the start that he does not prefer Zych. It also doesn't help that he plays him on the left, out of his favored position. If he can't have any use for a player like Ziyech, that's also his failing. Ziyech is a creative attacking midfielder, he's not a rusher or a pure goal scorer perse. Anyway, doesn't really matter.

3-0
btts yes
It is best waiting for the starting line ups an hour before kick off if you are having a bet on this.Hopefully Lukaku will start.
