Team News

Newcastle
Brighton
  • Eddie Howe remains without Callum Wilson Kieran Trippier, Matt Ritchie, Ciaran Clark, Isaac Hayden and Jamal Lewis.
  • A late decision will be made on Allan Saint-Maximin but he will likely only make the bench at best here.
  • Howe could stick with the same XI that started Saturday's massive 2-0 win at Brentford.
  • That would mean high profile January arrival Bruno Guimaraes must settle for a spot on the bench again.
  • Brighton boss Graham Potter will hope to have Adam Webster available for selection at St. James' Park, though Potter himself has said he is unlikely to feature.
  • Jeremy Sarmiento and Enock Mwepu are both sidelined, too.
  • While they lost 2-0 to Aston Villa last week, Potter may name the same XI, though Danny Welbeck, Pascal Gross and Shane Duffy are pushing for starts here.

Prediction

  • Newcastle's stunning start to 2022 continued on Saturday as they beat Brentford 2-0 to move four points clear of the drop zone. One of the form teams in the league, they'll look to maintain their unbeaten run at Brighton's expense.
  • Three successive league defeats has seen Brighton drop to 10th and they are now just eight points above Saturday's opponents. The Seagulls have been better on their travels this season, however.
  • Newcastle have failed to win their last four home meetings with Brighton, but given the contrasting from of the two sides, the hosts should come away with all three points on Saturday.
