Man City
- Caoimhin Kelleher and Alisson have both been ruled out for Liverpool so Adrian will start in goal here. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Kostas Tsikimas are both doubts.
- Roberto Firmino or Darwin Nunez will lead the line, while Harvey Elliott is pushing for a start for Jurgen Klopp's side as well.
- Phil Foden, John Stones and Ilkay Gundogan weren't able to join Manchester City on their tour of the US so will be a bit behind their team-mates in terms of fitness.
- Aymeric Laporte is out due to a knee injury sustained at the end of last season.
Manchester City fans might consider toning down the hype a bit because your club is nothing in the grand scheme of things. PS: This does not mean I like Liverpool.
@splint3r Manchester City no Champion this year no matter Premier or Championship.
The best team won today, but as a neutral, I don't get how that handball could be a penalty. The ball hit Dias' hand from point-blank range, it was ball to hand, not hand to ball, the defender even tried to pull his arm back, and the position of his arm was perfectly normal for someone jumping. Football fans don't want to see defenders defending with hands on back, nor attackers aiming for the opponents' arms in the penalty box, but that is exactly what we'll get with decisions like this. I also don't understand why the VAR didn't show the video images at real pace. Did they assume the referee wouldn't be capable to spot the handball otherwise, even after several replays? I'd really hoped that by now, they would have learnt that images in slow motion offer a distorted picture of the players' motions and intentions, but they didn't. It appears that we're in for another frustrating season blotted by poor officiating.
@Maarten Unfortunately, that's a correct decision. Under new rules which changed a few years ago, any handball in the box is a penalty if arm is open no matter intentional or not. I agree with your view and shouldn't have been given mainly because it was nowhere near blocking a goal-scoring opportunity, but there it is.
That header for penalty was going to end up on corner flag and other one tap-in with no one marking, Liverpool was lucky that Haaland wasn't playing. Now watch them saying they will win it all on social media over a cup victory which they were considering useless, just like they did for friendlies while their manager was losing his mind.
@Byakuya Haaland played the whole game you clown.
@Rensen He was a ghost whole game and did absolutely nothing apart from making the ball fly in front of the goal at final opportunity, you're the whole circus for not seeing a clear sarcasm.
Manchester City and Liverpool have scored plenty of goals when facing each other - six of the last seven have seen over 3.5 goals scored.
@Rensen Easy win stats dont lie lol
Unpopular opinion: With Laporte out till Sept, and City yet to sign a natural LB, don't be shocked if Kalvin Phillips will convert to a regular CB. I reckon he might get some minutes here at the expense of Ake. Although, in this game, I am anticipating "the Dias-Stones" partnership. I loved watching those two play alongside each other. I hope they start together although Stones was absent in the pre-season tour. - All in all, City will win here for sure. By how much, whether they'll concede, or that this game will go to penalties will depend on the starting/finishing line-up. 2:1/ 3:1/1:0 City win. Haaland and Foden to score.
And Oh! Grealish to put up a relishing performance once again.
This game is in Leicester.
Over 2.5 match goals.
15-15
This will be another Mind-blowing game
