Team News

Liverpool
Man City
  • Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and Joel Matip continue to be ruled out.
  • Trent Alexander-Arnold came off at half time during the defeat to Arsenal with a twisted ankle, so will likely miss this one.
  • Luis Diaz also came off in the Arsenal game with a knee injury, but is likely to return only after the World Cup.
  • Arthur is set to undergo surgery on a muscle issue which will see him ruled out for several months.
  • Curtis Jones returned to training last week, so may make a return to the squad at least for this weekend.
  • Ibrahima Konate missed Liverpool training on Friday, so his availability is in doubt.
  • Kalvin Phillips and Kyle Walker remain sidelined for this one.
  • This game will likely be too soon for John Stones, but he may make a return soon.

Prediction

  • Liverpool's difficult start to the Premier League season continued last weekend, when top of the table Arsenal beat them 3-2. That result now means they haven't claimed three points in the league since the end of August. They however come into this one on the back of a massive 7-1 win in the Champions League against Rangers at Ibrox in which Mohamed Salah scored a hat trick.
  • Manchester City secured their place into the next round of the Champions League, after their draw with Copenhagen as well as Borussia Dortmund and Sevilla playing out a 1-1 draw, and continued their unbeaten Premier League streak on the weekend with a 4-0 win over Southampton which now means they have the longest active unbeaten run in the league (9).
  • This game in recent years has almost been a title decider, but this time even at this early stage of the season feels different with Liverpool sitting in mid table. The last two meetings have been won, in the Community Shield and FA Cup, by Liverpool, but in the league the Reds haven't won this fixture since a 3-1 win at Anfield in 2019. City are likely to claim another win here, especially with Liverpool's current injury crisis.

  • Salah had 2 shots on target, the first one was wrongly given as a goal kick but ederson saved it,should be corrected on here.

  • How does Alfie Haaland get the same rating as the Egyptian Magician?

  • Superb defending from Liverpool. Sofascore says City had only 1 great chance, compared to Liverpool's 5.

  • First of all, Im so glad Diaz isnt playing. He isnt bad, but he doesnt bring anything to the team. And what's wrong with Nunez? He can be very useful with his ability to hold the ball, but his decision making was terrible today. You have one of the deadliest strikers to your right and he chooses to shoot from outside of the box.

  • Major shoutout to Milner putting in the performance of someone 10 years younger. Not a foot wrong all game

  • Hahaha! All the saddos in the pre match comments look like fools now!!

  • @Nico1 I had Liverpool to win. This City came are not as special as people seem to think. Most teams just bottle it against them.

  • Rumour has it that Foden and Haaland are still celebrating their 'goal' in front of the City fans.

  • Nunez out

  • I have to agree. This guy Núñez is dumb beyond any believe. I really hope his carrier will be very short.

  • Glad Klopp got red, he didn't saw Nunez disgrace.

  • Nunez is a f*cking garbage, it should've 2-0.

  • @Frei98 Bro can't even spell properly

  • Apart from dreadful Cancelo defending it was also not any better set piece by KDB. Very far from his standards to say at least. So far may be the crucial win for reds

  • Salah is simply the greatest attacker of the Premier League, and he has done it for the greater part of the past 5 years.

  • @Gewoonmoi without a doubt. It's not just a tap in specialist. He's an all-round excellent footballer.

  • De Bruyne and Haaland on the same team is a joke, let alone with Foden and the rest.

  • don't lie to yourself you didn't watch the first 30 mins

  • I have had a very large bet on over 2.5 gols in the game.Should win comfortably.
