Team News

Liverpool
Chelsea
  • Virgil van Dijk, Diogo Jota, Arthur and Luis Diaz are all ruled out against Chelsea.
  • Darwin Nunez missed the defeat to Brighton and win at Wolves, but could be in contention to start against Chelsea.
  • Konstantinos Tsimikas is a doubt for the game after picking up a knock against Wolves, but Andrew Robertson is likely to start regardless after being rested.
  • Harvey Elliott scored the winner at Wolves and got MOTM, but might start on the bench against Chelsea.
  • Joao Felix continues to miss out, following his red card at Fulham.
  • Reece James and Ben Chilwell returned to training for Chelsea, but are expected to miss out the clash at Anfield.
  • New signing Mykhailo Mudryk could make his Chelsea debut against Liverpool, while Benoît Badiashile could retain his place in the side after a solid debut.

Prediction

  • Usually a game of such high drama at the top of the table, 10th place Chelsea travel to Anfield to face Liverpool, just above them in 9th place.
  • This is the first encounter between the two sides after four pulsating matches across the league, Carabao Cup and FA Cup last season. Liverpool ended a run of three games in all competitions without a win by beating Wolves in their FA Cup third round replay. Darwin Nunez could return after missing the last two games.
  • Chelsea beat Crystal Palace in the Premier League last weekend, after suffering three consecutive defeats in all competitions. New signing Mykhailo Mudryk is training with his Blues and could make his Chelsea debut against Liverpool. Joao Felix will continue to miss out after his red card against Fulham last week.
  • Both teams are far from their usual self, but we could expect a high class encounter at Anfield, one which both managers will be keen to win.

  • Riveting match

  • Fun fact: Mudryk has been officially clocked at a faster speed than Dembele once.

  • Mudryk is a bit rough but indeed some talent

  • Liverpool have no money to spend until the summer. They have no chance of getting Bellingham.I expect him to go to Real Madrid.

  • @Marbella he wouldn't go to Liverpool anyway, he loves Spain

  • @koziol.mutant A lot of the media here saying Bellingham and his father have met Real to discuss a summer move.

  • Is Mudyk surely a Ukrainian? In this match he played as a Brazilian

  • @kinm3 many Brazilians have played for Shakhtar ;-) he has had possibilities to learn from them

  • @koziol.mutant Learned from the best, Fred.

  • How are Liverpool not buying midfielders rn. Thiago is pretty much the only one still available and he could get injured any time.

  • Both sides will be lucky to qualify for CL especially on current form.

  • @Marbella That's gonna be almost impossible

  • Mudyk showed some fine skill , they should have load him more with ball, he could cause havoc to defenders, bery unexpected player.

  • Never change huh Havertz? as garbage as ever. Also Potter out.

  • Mudryk is one fine baller. His combination of speed and dribbling skills are pretty unique.

  • @neumi17 As long as that doesn't reflect on the scoreline, it means nothing. Same things have been said about Antony, then turned into fidget-spinner. Won't take long before people start calling him flop, he can't shine with those poor players around him.

  • @Byakuya That's a vicious cycle then ... But you have to start with something and what Chelsea needed the most were creative, fast wingers that are good in taking on people. Now they have one ...

  • @neumi17 They already had many wingers, they needed a finisher. Still don't have one, so much wasted potential on that team. Pulisic and Sterling should've been those fast wingers while Havertz taking the creative role, no proper striker.

  • Could be nice goal by Ziyech abd by Mudryk after.

  • I think both sides would welcome Poch as manager.

  • @Marbella He was awful in Paris

  • Mudryk has 35 minutes to do something.

  • @Marbella He was good, + at Anfeild, well done

  • Liverpool a bit better this half. Potter seems to favour blocking Salah than attacking that wing by Mudryk and risking counter

  • get this Hall guy off man

  • play Mudruk, he will eat slow and awkward Milner alive on that side.

  • @dzvinka If he comes on then he will cause Liverpool plenty of problems with his speed especially on the counter attack.

  • 2 very poor sides.

  • @Marbella EPL football quality much lower this season, especially from UCL teams. Perhaps too many games

  • Poor quality in the team of Liverpool. Worst Liverpool in years, not just because of the results.

  • If anyone can explain which Chelsea player was offside when they scored, I will be really thankful.

  • @Sputnik Harvetz (left leg), after Silva first shot

  • Unbelievable, a team like Chelsea not being favorites

  • @ttigov Why would they ?

  • It's just a mid-table battle of two poor teams, still marked as top match. Liverpool recently lost against Brighton and Brentford in PL consecutively, just like earlier this season when they said Ten Hag will be sacked soon. Meanwhile Chelsea panic-buying even though they're not going anywhere, probably because no big player will go to a team without CL football also like they said last summer. I like how the tables have turned, hopefully a draw.

  • @Byakuya When the cat is gone, the mice dance. Where have you been the last 5 years, when Liverpool was on the top?! I have to scroll down to search your team in the table. A lucky win against City (not without the help of the referee) and you call us mid-table team? Your are pathetic.

  • @Barele You started being relevant for a few seasons after 30 years and shamelessly called yourself the best team of the PL era, not difficult to see who is pathetic.

  • Hopefully Mykhailo Mudryk plays. He is one of the fastest players i have ever seen.

  • @Marbella ...yup...he'll need to be quick...58 minutes to a red card is the current speed record... :p

  • Over 2.5 goals in the game.

  • 2-2

  • Bet W1

  • Salah seems to always turn up against big sides. Good chance he scores and Liverpool win as our home form is actually much better than our away form

  • This Mudryk guy has no soul!

  • @albgunn Yes, but that's because he is from the ukraine, not because he joined Chelsea.

  • Mudryk is way overrated, tries to dribble too many times, and fails more than succeeds. Wonder who told him that he is the "new CR7". Liverpool 2-1. The interesting situation as both sets of players are told that either they perform or will be sold in the summer or even now. The coaches are here to stay.

  • Said russian bot. Wonder how many of his matches you watched. Stop being jealous

  • @NickLivyi watched most, read an article on this website that has stats to back it up. And heal your brain with "Russian bot" I don't even care what nationality Mudryk is... you Ukrainians are really silly at times.

  • @koziol.mutant changed your nationality to Afghanistan because it is a shame to be russian nowadays? XD

  • @koziol.mutant yeah, come up with more fairytales with "koziol" nickname lol

  • @NickLivyi "Only Bruno Petkovic (27) has been dispossessed more times than Mykhailo Mudryk (19) in the Champions League this season". As for the shame, it is only a matter of silly racists paying attention to which nationality other person belongs to.... as if it could be controlled and counts for anything, pretty low whatever the reason.

  • @koziol.mutant Maybe we'll talk about his 2 goals and 3 assists in the CL group? Pretty low is humiliating a young player who has just moved to a new club and has not played a single match. If you saw his matches, you would understand that there are reasons to compare him with the young CR7.

  • @NickLivyi these stats are the result of the team playing through him all the time. He is talented no doubt, but claiming he is a future Ballon D'Or winner is way too much. He would need to bring his level a few classes above. Cl group with Celtic and one match against Leipzig where players wanted to fire the coach, are no comparison even to EPL standards. What I wanted to stress, is that Liverpool have a more established team and should win this. Mudryk level will be verified by time and development, if he rises it to CR7, great. The more players of that caliber, the better, but I see Garnacho (way younger), Saka, Rashford, Foden, Martinelli, Antony (similar age) above his level in EPL as for young attacking players.

  • @koziol.mutant I completely agree that it is too early to talk about any of his achievements, as well as whether he is better or worse than anyone. Let him spend at least a season in Premier League, then we can draw conclusions. "A future Ballon D'Or winner" is a quote from De Zerbi, his former coach, who gave him the road to big football. Mudryk doesn't say that about himself ;)

  • @NickLivyi he did “No-one expected me to win the Shakhtar player of the year award in 2021 and no-one expected me to get the Golden Ball as well, but it might happen one day. This is one of my personal goals,” ;-)

  • Has draw written all over it no goals 0-0

  • @FF2021 No, I think Liverpool will get the W here. I'm sorry.

  • @HillaryClinton You still alive, Hillary?
