Team News

St. Louis City
Portland
  • Joakim Nilsson continues to miss out due to his knee injury, whilst Njabulo Blom returns to the injury list with a groin injury that could see him out until the end of next month.
  • Felipe Mora and Yimmi Chara both remain out due to a knee injury and hamstring strain respectively.
  • Sebastian Blanco is expected to continue to miss out with his knee injury, whilst David Bingham has picked up a hamstring injury and is a doubt for this weekend.
  • Eryk Williamson has damaged his cruciate ligament and is expected to be out until December.

Prediction

  • Western Conference leaders St Louis were denied all three points in stoppage time against Colorado Rapids last weekend as Rasmus Alm's opener was cancelled out by Michael Barrios' 92nd minute equaliser. This draw ensured St Louis remained top of the table on goal difference, but with Seattle Sounders and LAFC hot on their tail, the room for error is minimal. St Louis will be buoyed by their midweek thrashing of Union Omaha in the US Open Cup, and will be hoping to build on their strong home form.
  • Portland Timbers won 3-1 in the week against Orange County SC, but their last MLS match resulted in a defeat on their travels to Cincinnati. Portland are without a win in five away matches this season, their only point on the road coming in a 1-1 draw with Dallas earlier this month.
  • Whilst Portland will put up a fight, their recent 4-1 thrashing of Seattle Sounders still fresh in the memory, their disappointing away form suggests that St Louis could just edge this one come the weekend.
