Team News

Man Utd
Charlton
  • Donny van de Beek remains out with a knee injury he sustained during the win over Bournemouth last week.
  • Axel Tuanzebe remains sidelined, while Jadon Sancho continues to miss out.
  • Bruno Fernandes is suspended, so Christian Eriksen may play in the number 10 role with Fred starting alongside Casemiro.
  • After completing his loan move to United last week, Jack Butland may be in line to start here.
  • Joseph Wollacott remains out with a finger injury and with Ashley Maynard-Brewer a doubt, Craig MacGillivray may start here.
  • Chuks Aneke is another who needs checking over, but Diallang Jaiyesimi and Mandela Egbo miss out.
  • Sean Clare is available following a ban.

Prediction

  • Manchester United come into this game after knocking fellow Premier League side Everton, out of the FA Cup, on Friday, where they won 3-1. They beat Burnley 2-0 in the last round of the League Cup to set up this quarter-final with Charlton.
  • Charlton, the only London side left in the League Cup, and the lowest ranked side left in the competition, come into this game on the back of back-to-back wins in League One, including most recently a 2-1 win over Lincoln City on Saturday. Two of their four games in the League Cup this season, has seen them knock sides out from divisions higher than their own, including Championship side QPR and Premier League side Brighton.
  • Given the home advantage, this game should see United win.

  • Well played Mainoo. Looks a great prospect, so calm for a 17 year old making his debut!!!

  • Charlton boss Dean Holden is a season ticket holder for Manchester United, nice to see Mainoo getting a chance here on an easy game like this.

  • 2-0

  • Don't drink and bet LOL! I accidentally bet Charlton +2.5 thinking it was the total. Best of luck

  • @Oversonly accept my condolences

  • Both teams to score - NO @1.75

  • Bruno Fernandes won't be available due to his suspension. In the previous round got his 2nd yellow card.

  • @Richy_M literally says that above

  • @FF2021 To be fair, we edited the preview accordingly after seeing the above comment. Thank you for flagging to us @Richy_M
