Was Mueller knocked before this game? Surprised to see Musiala start here. He's got talent but is too young/inexperienced to be trusted to hold the midfield against teams that don't play in the Bundesliga. Against those easier teams Kimmich/Goretzka are more than enough, but vs ManC they need some help. May be a reason Bayern's front 4 were so anonymous today.
@tkr Tuchel said he wanted speed, agility and dribbling up front since he expected his team to create chances only through counter attacks. Müller isn't that kind of player.
Rodri's unexpected goal was crucial to allow City players play with much more courage and put pressure on Upamecano. By the way, I never understood what's so great about Upamecano: he is probably the worst central defender I have seen in my life - he is slow, clumsy, not very skilful with the ball, and takes too many touches on the ball. If City were to put pressure on him right from the start, they could have run riot and knock out Bayern totally. Now, thanks to Sommer, it's not completely over. However, I predict a City win even in Munich because they can counterattack in that game and they are lethal when given spaces. P.S. When I heard about Tuchel's signing, I predicted that he would have the shortest coaching tenure in the history of football, and I still stick to my guns. City will run riot in Munich and Tuchel will be fired right after that game. If not, Tuchel can even screw up Bayern's Bundesliga aspirations, especially with the lowly Upamecano as a central defender!
@carrollyim You are so wrong. He used 'EVEN' that suggest he also predicted City win in Etihad. But, he never post his prediction for the 1st leg before the match. Carrollyim, you must start to learn how to read.
This is exactly Bayern's real level of ability. Tuchel is not responsible, it's like their players were afraid of the Etihad Stadium. Who would even be afraid of the Etihad? I am watching Manchester City - Bournemouth. Bad show.
A bad day to rain. It is too slippy to play. Upamecano is like the worst player today, he makes too many dangerous failed pass, don't know why Tuchel haven't sub him out
Such incredibly poor games both in Manchester and in Portugal. City found a goal from an unlikely source, but overall I see the same problems in both games. Since the pace of the game is if 50+ year old seniors would be playing because of lack of courage, 1. on the defensive end of the game there is not enough pressure on the attacking side with the ball so as to force errors and create transitions as a consequence from which they could catch the opposing defences off guard, develop shooting situations, and score a goal, 2. on the offensive side, there is not enough forward movement into spaces from the attacking players WITHOUT the ball so that the attacking team could surprise their opponent. Thus, there are way too few shots on target considering that both goalkeepers are world class and each team would need about 6 shots on target in each half to score 2 or more goals. Everything is too predictable and even City risks that Bayern will somehow find a goal in the second half.
Listen, guys, do me a favour and stop keep grassing on my bad language. We're all big boys risking large amounts of money, it's bound to be stressful talking about it!
Müller is NOT gonna play as a striker, that's for sure. 3-1 for City sounds about right on paper but Bayern in CL are different.
2-1 City, maybe even 1-1
@wdetac Yeah, Guardiola is probably stupid enough to settle for a draw on home turf. He cannot exploit home advantage probably because Manchester is not his home (one more reason not to bring in all this foreigners as coaches - they add nothing to the game in terms of passion and they cannot properly communicate with their players because of the language barrier).
@SlobbaN Unfortunately for you, Tuchel is not a coaching genius either! He is only capable of playing ugly, as he clearly demonstrated it during his tenure with Chelsea! It remains to be seen who will emerge victorious from the face-off of the two of the most incompetent coaches in the history of football! Haaland might decide our dispute if he gets some service!
@Zoltan Pep hasn't won anything at all since peak Messi Iniesta Xavi Puyol and a top3 keeper, despite spending the most cash on transfers BY FAR. Tuchel came in mid season and won CL right away with a middling Chelsea squad.
@SlobbaN ....and Tuchel already fell for the lowly Freiburg, even though Freiburg has zero superstars on their team! If it were not for Christian Streich, Freiburg would be a totally average team - in fact, they would fight against relegation! I wonder what Guardiola or Tuchel could bring out of Freiburg! They would be totally clueless without any superstars!
The best Tuchel can do is to emulate Freiburg against City: basically, he will try to destroy the party of the City fans, even if that means that no one sees good football. So be prepared for a bore-fest, unless Guardiola gathers some uncharacteristic courage when advising his team. Maybe Haaland will have mercy on him with a quick goal. Maybe not (because he needs service as well).
Without Lewandowski and Hansi Flick Bayern is not the same attacking threat and Mr. Bean (aka. Tuchel) just won't cut it, as Freiburg has already demonstrated it. If Guardiola let's his boys fly instead of filling their head with his overly cautious "coaching" ideas based on fear, City will cruise through Bayern easily. Unfortunately, for Guardiola, their Champions League misery has always boiled down to his incompetence in inspiring his team as a coach. The same happened with Arteta (who learned the "trade" under Guardiola) the other day: his overly cautious attitude against Liverpool let the opposition back into the game, in which they had no business to do anything after being down to 0-2. Basically, Arteta was so fearful of losing his 2 goal advantage that Arsenal has lost his 2 goal advantage! Guardiola is exactly the same: not a winning type!
It's difficult, normally City is the clear favorite. They won 18 of 20 games at home in league and CL and scored 64 goals, which leads to an average of 3,6 goals per game !
Additionally they are in top form whereas Bayern is out of shape at the moment and couldn't play convincingly in any of their last 4 games away from home.
But CL is different and there is also the factor Tuchel !
So usually I would say a clear victory for City but because of the combination of CL and Tuchel it will be closer than anticipated.
2-1 City
@hellreaper one of the strangest decisions in UCL history. I had them tied for favorites with us (Madrid fan) now I can’t see them getting past this tie. Can’t fire a manager at that time in the season especially for someone as mid as Tuchel.
@neumi17 Poor form? Their internal form doesn't matter at all. This is the competition they care about and they have won all Champions League matches so far and were playing good. Now with so little time to handle the team and facing a good opponent the chances are against them.
@hellreaper Yes, this year they have a poor form. They lost 2 of the last 4 away games and won in Freiburg only due to a lucky shot from distance. Even vs PSG they played poorly but Paris was just dreadfully bad.
only city and real can eliminate bayern, in turn only real can eliminate both city and bayern. so whatever happens here is uninteresting (even though i think city will be able to advance) as the next opponent is a far more complete team with less weaknesses. GG its the same as always real turns up in UCL esp till semis. i hope for napoli masterclass, only that can save us from this endless pain. anyway speaking more about this specific game - city will start confident and able to fight toe-to-toe with bayern in terms of possession, much like PSG last week. bayern are defensively dedicated, but they are not as hard to play around as the 2020 side if you have the players that city have. not to mention that city have superior players to PSG everywhere on the pitch except obviously the front line. their collective play is also better and they're more smoothly gelled and complete. the fact bayern were almost worse than psg in 2nd leg till that mistake makes me think city will dominate.
I'm rooting for City to win UCL but I have to be realistic, they have bottling potential. Harland to win BDO is they win UCL tho.
@GioMonaldo Nah.. it would be KDB.

@tkr Or maybe it's because they are not that good, overhyped players.
Rodri's unexpected goal was crucial to allow City players play with much more courage and put pressure on Upamecano. @Zoltan 'However, I predict a city win even in Munich ...' So, you made a prediction City win, 2 hours after the match ended?
@FootballFanatics "In Munich". Which of the OP's word confused you? He is predicting the result of the 2nd leg.
@carrollyim You are so wrong. He used 'EVEN' that suggest he also predicted City win in Etihad. But, he never post his prediction for the 1st leg before the match. Carrollyim, you must start to learn how to read.
Amazing defense from MC. Bayer actually play not bad. Just they again Avengers today.
Thx to Sommer it didn't end 0-6
Quite a few things were surprising today. One of them was Ake, top class performance.
This is exactly Bayern's real level of ability. Tuchel is not responsible, it's like their players were afraid of the Etihad Stadium. Who would even be afraid of the Etihad? I am watching Manchester City - Bournemouth. Bad show.
Upamecano is today's mole of Man City, should get note 3.0 at best
Upamecano has lost the plot
@harteless He never had it
A bad day to rain. It is too slippy to play. Upamecano is like the worst player today, he makes too many dangerous failed pass, don't know why Tuchel haven't sub him out
Gnabry has been awful, get him off and bring on Mane.

Man City to win, men against boys, Haaland to score.
Listen, guys, do me a favour and stop keep grassing on my bad language. We're all big boys risking large amounts of money, it's bound to be stressful talking about it!
Muller can troll Haaland in this night
Man city -0.5
Bayern won’t lose here.
@albgunn ...
Haalands new hairstyle is a laugh.Braided pigtails in a Norwegian viking fashion. :)
Tuchel will park the bus and he will be happy with a draw to take back to Germany.
@Marbella I hoped the same
@Marbella Too Bad Bayerns Defense is far from Solid
@KingKeno 12-0 against Inter, Barca, PSG. Solid enough so far
Bayern double chance
@footballover Took it lost it
Müller is NOT gonna play as a striker, that's for sure. 3-1 for City sounds about right on paper but Bayern in CL are different. 2-1 City, maybe even 1-1
@neumi17 Yes, they are different indeed. They are even worse in the CL than in the Bundesliga.
Bayern to score first.
low scoring draw is a possible outcome
@wdetac Yeah, Guardiola is probably stupid enough to settle for a draw on home turf. He cannot exploit home advantage probably because Manchester is not his home (one more reason not to bring in all this foreigners as coaches - they add nothing to the game in terms of passion and they cannot properly communicate with their players because of the language barrier).
@Zoltan 4-5 goals at least. Mark my words.
Bayern +0,5 safest bet in history. That pe teacher from City is about to get his shit kicked in again, 10th time in a row or something.
@SlobbaN how did that work you ya muppet? hope you lost a lot, clown.
@SlobbaN Unfortunately for you, Tuchel is not a coaching genius either! He is only capable of playing ugly, as he clearly demonstrated it during his tenure with Chelsea! @Zoltan Guardiola most incompetent!! LOL Guardiola changed football He is one of the best in history and you cant change that
@Zoltan Pep hasn't won anything at all since peak Messi Iniesta Xavi Puyol and a top3 keeper, despite spending the most cash on transfers BY FAR. Tuchel came in mid season and won CL right away with a middling Chelsea squad.
@SlobbaN Peo hasn't won CL since then. CL is not everything.
@SlobbaN Nevermind Zoltan, he just hates Tuchel for some reason. His reasoning is pure emotional.
@SlobbaN ....and Tuchel already fell for the lowly Freiburg, even though Freiburg has zero superstars on their team! "Clash of the Titans" and the two heavyweights of UCL22/23
Bayern changed the coach at a very bad time. They were the favorits. Now, Manchester City are.
@hellreaper one of the strangest decisions in UCL history. I had them tied for favorites with us (Madrid fan) now I can’t see them getting past this tie. Can’t fire a manager at that time in the season especially for someone as mid as Tuchel.
@hellreaper Bullsh ... Tuchel is a much better coach and Bayern has now a better chance with him to advance than before in their current poor form.
@neumi17 Keep telling yourself that. Perhaps one day, even you will believe it.
@neumi17 Poor form? Their internal form doesn't matter at all. This is the competition they care about and they have won all Champions League matches so far and were playing good. Now with so little time to handle the team and facing a good opponent the chances are against them.
