Team News

Middlesbrough
Swansea
  • Club captain Jonny Howson is carrying a knock and is a doubt for Middlesbrough, so expect Dan Barlaser to partner Hayden Hackney in midweek.
  • Centre-back Dael Fry is also unavailable as he continues to recover from a long-term injury.
  • Andy Fisher picked up an injury during pre-season, so Lawrence Vigoroux will be the man between the sticks for the first handful of games.
  • The back four will be a familiar one, but further forward expect debuts for Eom Ji-Sung and Goncalo Franco.

Prediction

  • Middlesbrough narrowly missed out on a playoff spot last season despite starting the campaign with a disastrous run of form. The board kept faith in Michael Carrick and were repaid, and the form of Emmanuel Latte Lath and Finn Azaz towards the end of the year will inspire plenty of confidence as Boro look to secure a top-six finish.
  • Swansea will be optimistic heading into the new campaign after ending the 2023/24 campaign with three wins and a draw from their last five matches. Under fan favourite manager Luke Williams there is a clear plan and sense of tactical direction and the Swans' recruitment has been - while limited - very encouraging.

  • This was a sure thing at 1-0

  • Emmanuel Latte Lath TSA +150

  • Has Carrick got his charges ready. There are never a great amount of goals at the Riverside but Swansea will arrive to try and show that is true nd block out Boro. I only see one winner, Boro 1-0 or a squeaky win by a goal.
