Team News

  • Giandomenico Mesto resumed training and should be available for the match against Parma.
  • That means that Rossi could be moved in the midfield, replacing Biondini, who is suspended.
  • Sculli will also miss this game, so Belluschi is set to play on the left flank, with Jankovic partnering Palacio.
  • Mirante is going to take his spot back between the posts, as Pavarini is working hard to recover from his injury in time.
  • Paletta could also miss out, and Ferrario looks favoured over Santacroce to replace him.
  • Musacci and Galloppa are in contention for a spot in the midfield.

  • Home strength has been the key attribute of coach Marino's team since he took over, but after the defeat against Chievo at the Ferraris, Genoa have to regain form. Relegation is not something to worry about, but the club may want to aim for the top half of the table, so it should be time to start picking up points again.
  • Parma ended their 5-match unbeaten streak after losing in Roma, but an away defeat against a top-club may be acceptable for a team fighting for safety. A point in Genoa could be appreciated, but as Napoli and Fiorentina lay ahead in the fixture list, coach Donadoni may also go for the win as his opponents are not in good form.
  • However, it is highly unlikely that Genoa will lose twice in a row in front of their fans, so expect the hosts to go for the win with the usual, fairly unbalanced playing style. Parma will have to defend tight, especially on the flanks, and then quickly counter-attack and exploit the weakest defence in the league. Giovinco's flair may do the job, but Genoa will press hard to score, and in the end, the fans support may give them the help they need to get through this difficult moment.
