Team News

  • Abdou Traore is only the doubt for Francis Gillot's men. The midfielder has missed the last few games due to illness but, his absence aside, Les Girondins will be able to call on a fully fit squad.
  • Gillot will likely stick with striker Yoan Gouffran at the head of the attack following his double against Lorient, but it remains to be seen whether the Bordeaux boss will stick with the 3-5-1-1 formation that worked to such excellent effect in Brittany.
  • Marseille go into the game missing two of their main attacking threats.
  • Andre-Pierre Gignac remains out with a fractured foot, and Loic Remy is set to be absent for two weeks with a thigh injury sustained in the draw with Nice.
  • Joey Barton is still unavailable for selection after the league's governing body determined that he still has one game of his nine-match suspension to serve.
  • Expect Jordan Ayew to start up front in place of Remy as Marseille aim to keep pace at the top of the league.

  • Bordeaux and Marseille meet in the final fixture of the weekend for what will surely be a fiery contest at the Stade Chaban Delmas.
  • The two sides competed for a plethora of league titles in the mid eighties and early nineties and as a result their rivalry is still considered as one of the most fierce in French football.
  • Both teams have enjoyed strong starts to the season, and this could well be a vital game in both the title race and battle for European places. Indeed, Bordeaux can leapfrog Les Phoceens with victory and they will be confident of doing so following back to back wins against Toulouse and Lorient.
  • Marseille boss Elie Baup will look for his side to continue their fine scoring run, L'OM have scored in all but one of their 12 games this season and they will need to do so again if they to overcome a Bordeaux team that has yet to lose at home this term.
  • A hotly-contested game is to be anticipated between two of the most famous names in the French game, however Bordeaux are the team in form and they may have just enough to secure victory and put themselves at the sharp of the fight for the championship.
