Man City
- Jamie Carragher will stand in for the suspended Daniel Agger, who was sent off at the Hawthorns last week and will serve a one-match ban.
- Jose Enrique is a doubt with the knock that kept him out of the defeat at the Hawthorns, though he is likely to return in time to play, with Glen Johnson switching to right-back.
- It will be interesting to see if Rodgers sticks with the same midfield and attack he selected at West Brom, after they failed to find the net in that game.
- Sergio Aguero suffered a knee injury against Southampton that is set to keep him out for a number of weeks, though the exact duration of his absence is still unclear. Edin Dzeko could replace the Argentinian up front, while Mario Balotelli is another option.
- With Gareth Barry also injured and rumours amassing that Nigel de Jong is on his way out the door, Jack Rodwell could play in central midfield again alongside Yaya Toure.
- It seemed against Southampton that Roberto Mancini had decided against using the 3 man defence he tried out in pre-season, so it will be interesting to see which formation he opts for at Anfield.
Suarez scored a brilliant goal. Also, he creates chances with his movement, even if he fluffs many of them. Rodgers' pimping of Allen is merely his way of trying to instill a passing style. Don't see how Allen was exceptional.
Allen was superb. His distribution, the way he takes pressure off his teammates, he fits in perfectly in the pass and move style. His defensive contribution was the best from Liverpool's midfield, he passes into the spaces and plays perfect simple football. Not exceptional, but his regular game. He's a very good player, and an incredible addition to Liverpool's squad. Sterling was brilliant as well, bright future for the lad.
ynwa!
Joe Allen was clearly MOTM and is only rated 6,9. That's not right at all. Much better than for instance Suarez who had a really bad game.
