Arsenal
Southampton
- Szczesny should be back in contention this weekend, though Mannone will hope to keep his place.
- Elsewhere, however, Abou Diaby missed France's midweek game with Belarus with a muscle injury and is a doubt for this weekend.
- Aaron Ramsey could take his place in the midfield, while Wenger's patience will be tested with the form of Olivier Giroud, who should get another chance up front with Podolski continuing out wide.
- Jack Cork and Steve De Ridder remain doubts, while Danny Fox missed international duty with Scotland and could also be sidelined with a groin problem.
- If the left-back is fit Southampton could name an unchanged side from the one that were so unlucky to lose to United last time out.
- However, with the deal for Gaston Ramirez finally completed, the Uruguayan could be in line to make his debut this weekend.
Still think Jenkinson misplaces too many passes in his own third, he is definitely improving though. We shouldn't get too carried away after this result though, 2 own goals and a set piece.
So the old cliche about a team losing their best player and becoming a better team, no? I guess we will find out in a week.
@Macan i meant
@Completely agree about Gibbs and Jenkinson. Arsenal have a solid defence now for once.
@Thypot I THINK THE TEAM IS PLAYING MORE DIRECT NOW WHICH IS STH PPL WANTED TO SEE FOR A LONG TIME. TRUE EVERYONE LIKES HAVING POSSESION BUT WHAT MATTERS THE MOST IS THE RESULT.
@Thypot Because it IS our style of play))) We have an advantage, taking the lead, and then... OMG WTF?! Why they play better than us?!... After that - nervous atmosphere, salvation goal, heroism, etc. Good old Arsenal, love them.
So happy with Gibbs and Jenkinson performance so far this season. Too bad Szczesny made a blunder in this game, should've been the 4th consecutive clean sheet.
Beautiful display. But I noticed something "strange": we didn't keep much possession. Is it because we lead by 4-1 after the first-half, or because our style of play is changing? I hope we will continue to have possession in the future; that is the key of success.
Gunners are playing some beautiful football
I guess Wenger listened to LessBlues, Gillet_R, and spuds
Agree with lessblues, coquelin would be a much better shout for that role than Ramsey, they need a combative midfielder alongside arteta, not a ball player.
Ramsey is more attacking and similar to Diaby (kind of box to box) while Coquelin is bit too defensive for this game. I just hope Ramsey doesn't play like a dog.
Will Wenger play Coquelin in the place of Ramsey (please)? I like Arsenal bossing midfield, not (sadly) athletically awkward Ramsey plying his trade there.
Believe me Gunners will win the title this year!
Another Arsenal clean sheet
