Team News
Liverpool
Aston Villa
- Luis Suarez returns from suspension and will start up front ahead of Jonjo Shelvey, who will hope he can keep his place in the side and move back into the midfield.
- Nuri Sahin remains a doubt with a facial injury, while Jose Enrique also has a slight hamstring problem but should be in contention.
- If the Spaniard cannot recover in time Joe Cole will hope for a chance to build on his goal from last weekend against former club West Ham with Downing potentially moving to left back.
- The severity of a hamstring injury picked up by Darren Bent is unknown as of yet but he is likely to be out for the Christmas period having only returning to the side in the midweek cup victory over Norwich.
- Bent's replacement on the night Andreas Weimann netted twice to ensure Lambert's side's progression to the semi-finals and is likely to be rewarded in kind, keeping Gabby Agbonlahor out of the side.
- Elsewhere captain Ron Vlaar is still a doubt but could be in contention, while an impressive display from Fabian Delph in midweek could see him start ahead of Barry Bannan in midfield.
lambert keeps owning rodgers
can't take it anymore. no more bet on liverpool
holy molly...liverpool sucks so bad...they made me lose 2 bets!!!
better start without Suarez....
as someone who finds humor in the awfulness of liverpool. this makes me happy. however, i think brandan rodgers is taking them in the right direction and once he has the team in place that suits his coaching style they will be top 4 once again
