Team News

  • John Terry remains a doubt having sat out of Capital One Cup action in midweek.
  • John Obi Mikel is still suspended but with Lampard back fit he shouldn't be missed as Ramires will be fresh having been suspended in the cup.
  • Ashley Cole and Eden Hazard should return to the starting XI, while Ivanovic may continue in his favoured centre-back role with Azpilicueta on the right.
  • Left-backs Joe Bennett and Enda Stevens are both back fit and vying for a start with Eric Lichaj but after the win at Liverpool changes are unlikely.
  • Benteke and Weimann will hope to build on an encouraging strike partnership in the absence of Bent and Agbonlahor, though the latter could be back in contention this week.
  • Captain Ron Vlaar is likely to continue to miss out, leaving the young back three of Herd, Clark and Baker intact.

  • Villa's win at Stamford Bridge last season was their first at Chelsea's stomping ground in 10 attempts, with the Villans unbeaten at Chelsea in their last two visits.
  • Chelsea will look to exploit any holes in behind Villa's wing-backs with the pace of Hazard and Moses, with Lowton and Lichaj likely to be tasked with man marking the wingers.
  • The Blues defence will also have a handful against Christian Benteke so this should be an entertaining game at both ends with either side's defence likely to be the key to this one.

  • Guzan error led to goal!!!! which one

  • Just because you haven't given any assists or made any goals doesn't mean you've had a bad game. Besides more playing time means more chances to get the rating up. More touches, tackles, key passes, ... get you a higher rating. Less opportunities in less time.

  • What is going on with the ratings? How come Moses has 7,5 considering he hasn't done ANYTHING in the FULL 90 minutes, whereas Mata and Piazon have done more in less time and have worse ratings? I have no idea how Moses' rating is that high anyways, I thought it'd be tops 6,5.

  • oh, that was a close game!

  • big win..KTBFFH!!

  • Martin down. I repeat martin down!

  • 3-2 Villa,you heard it here first

  • 3-2 chelsea, only if benteke plays well if he doesnt then 3-1 chelsea

  • just like the Leeds game, this match will be a blowout especially with Mata's form

  • I think Villa might be able to nick this one they have been playing well recently, 2-1 villa

  • 4-0 for chelsea..
