Team News

  • Matthias Ginter is still injured and will be replaced by Pavel Krmas at centre-back again.
  • With Mensur Mujdza suspended for one game, Vegar Hedenstad will probably start at right-back.
  • Jan Rosenthal and Max Kruse could start out of position up front again, with the natural strikers staying on the bench.
  • Otherwise, manager Streich will most likely field an unchanged team.
  • Jerome Boateng and Holger Badstuber compete for a spot at centre-back. It remains to be seen if manager Heynckes will start with two left-footed players there.
  • With Luiz Gustavo still injured, Javi Martinez will probably play in defensive midfield alongside Bastian Schweinsteiger.
  • Mario Gomez and Claudio Pizarro will probably start on the bench again, with Mario Mandzukic getting another start up front.

  • Freiburg are in very good form at the moment and are sixth in the table after a decent run under manager Streich. The absence of Mensur Mujdza could cost them stability against very strong opponents though.
  • Bayern are in great form as well, with Franck Ribéry 100% fit again. A 5-0 home win against Hannover last weekend saw the Bavarians regain their confidence after a disappointing draw a week earlier.
  • Expect this to be close game, if Freiburg are able to defend as solidly as in their last few games. Bayern will dominate possession and are certainly favourites to win though.
