- Real Sociedad's indifferent season continued with a 2-0 defeat at Real Betis last time out meaning they have now won all three home games and lost all four on the road.
- Injuries to David Zurutuza and Imanol Agirretxe could mean a start for Gonzalo Castro, whilst Carlos Vela should keep his place at the point of the attack.
- Enaut Zubikarai also continues to deputise in goal for the injured Claudio Bravo.
- Atletico Madrid moved joint top with a late win over Malaga before the break and will be looking to keep their excellent run going at a ground where they won 4-0 last season.
- Unsurprisingly, Radamel Falcao was the hero that night, scoring a hat-trick, and thankfully for Diego Simeone he appears to have returned from international duty without any problems, though Arda Turan is out after suffering an ankle injury when away with Turkey.
- His absence will most likely mean that Adrian will keep his place from the side that started against Malaga, with Koke and Raul Garcia likely to come in for the Turkish duo of Arda and Emre.
