Team News

  • Sevilla's winless streak in the league extended to three as they lost 2-1 away at Athletic Bilbao last weekend.
  • Michel is therefore expected to make a couple of changes for the first Seville derby of the season with the fit again Manu del Moral expected to come in for Jose Campana, whilst Cicinho should also retake his place at the expense of Cala after being surprisingly left out against Athletic.
  • Alberto Botia could also return in place of Federico Fazio after recovering from injury.
  • Betis' momentum was also checked last weekend as they were surprisingly beaten 2-1 at home by Granada.
  • Pepe Mel's men remain in fourth though and will have happy memories of the Sanchez Pizjuan after winning 2-1 there towards the end of last season.
  • It was two free-kicks from Beñat that handed Los Verdiblancos victory that night and he will start despite playing 90 minutes for Spain in Panama on Wednesday.
  • Mel is expected to make at least one change from the Granada game though with the fit again Mario expected to replace Damien Perquis in central defence.

  • The game of the weekend has been given even extra spice given Sevilla's need for the points after a poor run and Betis' unexpected early challenge for the Champions League.
  • Sevilla's up and down form has been due to an over-reliance on Jesus Navas and Alvaro Negredo so if the visitors can restrict the supply to the two Spanish internationals they have an excellent chance of coming away with a similar result to the one they achieved in May.
  • However, Betis showed against Granada that they too are far from the finished article and with Botia and Manu back in the side, Sevilla should be strong enough at home to collect at least a point.
