Team News

  • A third win in four league games away at Valencia last weekend took Real Sociedad to the brink of the European places and they could climb into the top four for a couple of hours at least with another victory at Anoeta on Saturday.
  • Top-scorer Carlos Vela is suspended so there could be a return for Gonzalo Castro, while Imanol Agirretxe will also come back into the starting XI should Diego Ifran not recover from a muscle strain in time.
  • David Zurutuza is also a doubt so Asier Illarramendi is expected to retake his place after missing out through suspension at the Mestalla.
  • Three consecutive wins have moved Getafe even higher than their hosts this weekend; they sit two points ahead of Sociedad and three off the Champions League places in sixth.
  • Diego Castro is suspended for the visitors after receiving two silly yellow cards late on in the 1-0 win over Malaga last weekend, but the former Sporting Gijon man has only been a substitute in recent weeks anyway and Luis Garcia is not expected to make any changes to his starting XI.

  • Sociedad's home form has faded of late after a terrific run to start 2012. Their vast attacking talent seems to have awakened in recent weeks, though, and even without Vela they should have enough to register a fourth win in five this weekend.
  • Getafe are the classic example of how wide open La Liga is this season as any decent run of form is rewarded with great strides up the table, but even in winning those games recently they haven't always looked very impressive and that will eventually catch up with them.
