Team News

  • Sevilla's problems continued as they slipped to within just four points of the relegation zone with a 2-1 defeat at Real Sociedad before the break.
  • Coke is suspended after being sent-off in that match so Cicinho should return at right-back, whilst injuries to Jose Campaña and Hedwiges Maduro are likely to mean Geoffrey Kondogbia will keep his place in central midfield.
  • With the club also in financial difficulty Alvaro Negredo has been linked with a big-money move this month, but President Jose Maria Del Nido has insisted the Spanish international will stay and indeed Michel could even hand a debut to new signing Miroslav Stefanovic after he completed his transfer from Vojvodina.
  • Osasuna meanwhile slipped back into the relegation zone with defeat at home to Granada last time out.
  • Alejandro Arribas is suspended for the trip to the Sanchez Pizjuan so Ruben Gonzales is likely to partner Miguel Flaño in central defence.
  • Anthony Annan is also unavailable as he has joined the Ghanian squad for the Africa Cup of Nations, but Emiliano Armenteros does return from a ban and is expected to take Roland Lamah's place on the left side of midfield.

  • Sevilla's form before Christmas was awful with four defeats and a draw from five games, but the break has allowed them to get some of their injured bodies back fit and the return of Ivan Rakitic in particular could be significant.
  • Osasuna, meanwhile, are still lacking a goal threat since the departure of Raul Garcia in the summer and should they not address that problem this month it could result in a return to the Segunda for the first time since 2000.
