Malaga
- Deportivo sacked Jose Luis Oltra at the beginning of this week after just two wins in 19 games in all competitions this season, with former Sporting Lisbon boss Domingos Paciencia coming in.
- Paciencia's first move has been to recruit Silvio from Atletico Madrid and the Portuguese full-back could go straight into the side to face Malaga should all the necessary paperwork be completed in time.
- Nelson Oliveira may also benefit from more playing time under his compatriot, but Riki is expected to maintain his starting role up front at least for this weekend.
- Malaga rounded off a fantastic 2012 with a 3-2 win over Real Madrid to open up a three point advantage over Real Betis in the battle for the final Champions League spot and will be keen to build on that advantage with Barcelona visiting next weekend.
- Jeremy Toulalan returned to training this week but may not be risked after aggravating his hamstring injury when returning to action previously this season.
- Should the Frenchman not be included, Manuel Pellegrini will have to decide whether to start Manuel Iturra or the more attack-minded Francisco Portillo and Roque Santa Cruz may take Javier Saviola's place up front after scoring twice as a substitute against the champions last time out.
