Team News

  • Mallorca ended their winless streak at 15 with a much needed 2-1 victory at Real Betis just before the break.
  • That victory moved the Islanders just a point above the relegation zone, but they will be missing Victor who scored once at the Benito Villamarin and won the penalty that led to the winning goal, as he is suspended.
  • Tomer Hemed will return to take his place in attack, whilst Pedro Geromel should also come back into the heart of the defence with Pedro Bigas moving back out to left-back.
  • Atleti ground out another 1-0 win over Celta Vigo last time out to move seven points clear of city rivals Real Madrid, but Diego Simeone will have to cope without a number of key players for the tricky trip to Palma.
  • Radamel Falcao, Arda Turan and Miranda are all suspended so there could be starts for Adrian, Cristian Rodriguez and Cata Diaz.
  • Filipe Luis has recovered from the quad injury that kept him out of the Celta game and will return on the left side of defence.

  • This is one of the few occasions in the league this season where Atleti's squad will be truly tested. The absence of Falcao and Arda removes their greatest scoring and creative threat, but even in winning at Betis, Mallorca's defence looks vulnerable and will still find it difficult to contain Diego Costa and Adrian if he can continue the form he showed against Celta.
  • The hosts will undoubtedly have received a massive confidence boost from their win before the break but this could be yet another example where Simeone's new style Atleti grind out the three points.
