Team News

  • Serse Cosmi is no longer Siena's manager and the team will now be coached by Giuseppe Iachini.
  • The new coach has to deal with a bunch of absentees, especially in defence, where Neto and Paci are both suspended.
  • Contini and Dellafiore will replace them and join Felipe in the three-man backline.
  • As a consequence of the Calcioscommesse trials, Cannavaro and Grava have been suspended for six months, and the club were deducted two points.
  • Coach Mazzarri will have to build a new defence, with Campagnaro playing in between Britos and Gamberini, while Aronica and Fernandez will be the only substitutes for the role.
  • Both Dzemaili and Inler are unavailable, so Donadel will partner Behrami in the midfield.

  • Siena are still bottom of the table and with a couple of very tough matches ahead (Napoli and then Milan), so the board may have changed the manager as proof that they still alive and fighting. However, the calendar will be hard for the new coach, even if Napoli are in trouble as well.
  • Napoli have lost four games in a row in all competitions, were eliminated from the Coppa Italia, had two points deducted and will have their captain suspended for the next six months. As Mazzarri hasn't renewed his contract either, it looks like it could be the end of an era for the Partenopei and the club's owner could already be thinking of the future.
  • The match could be slow at the start as both teams may be more concerned about avoiding mistakes rather than attacking. Then Napoli should come out first to try to win it, but Iachini will take counter-measures to defend tight. The visitors would have easily won this match one month ago, but right now they look susceptible to dropping points against any team.
