Team News

Celtic
Juventus
  • Efe Ambrose returns to the fold for Celtic, but he played in the AFCON final for Nigeria on Sunday evening, and given that Neil Lennon rested most of his other players he may choose not to select Ambrose.
  • If he does not start, Adam Matthews could come into the back 4 with Lustig moving into the centre.
  • Lennon may choose to play an extra man in midfield against Juventus' greatest attribute - their midfield 3 of Pirlo, Vidal and Marchisio, so we could see Joe Ledley in there alongside Wanyama and Brown.
  • The main news for the Old Lady is that they will definitely be without Giorgeio Chiellini, who is suspended after picking up a third yellow card in the final game of the group stage.
  • Nicklas Bendtner and Simone Pepe remain absent through injury, but Kwadwo Asamoah is back from AFCON duties and will be available to face Celtic.
  • Marchisio proved he has recovered fully from the knock that kept him out of a few recent games by completing the full 90 minutes against Fiorentina at the weekend, while Matri could push Giovinco for a starting spot to add to the physicality of the strikeforce.

Prediction

  • Celtic did remarkably well to make it through their group and into the knockout stages of the Champions League, and in beating Barcelona at Celtic Park and running them close at Camp Nou, they showed that they are capable of competing with the best in the world.
  • Juventus will be weary of those results and will come prepared. They are in near unstoppable form at the top of Serie A, but recent defeats at Lazio in the Coppa Italia and at home to Sampdoria in the league have served to prove that they are not completely invincible.
  • Celtic have lost only 2 of their last 23 home Champions League matches and both defeats were to Barcelona. The Bhoys will want to keep the tie winnable before the second leg in Turin and would probably be happy with a draw. The game ended 4-3 to Celtic when these sides last met in 2001, but as many goals this time around is wholly unlikely, though Celtic may well manage a draw.

  • Man of the Match = Marchisio

  • ti amo juve ! forza juve !

  • "Celtic have lost only 2 of their last 23 home Champions League matches and both defeats were to Barcelona." Past Stats have no relevance!

  • haha got it both. i should have bet on those prediction XD

  • MoM Ambrose LoL

  • forza Juve ... yes !

  • Asamoah doesn't play presumably because he is still recovering after the Africa Cup of Nations.. he scored in the third-place defeat against Mali. The squad is very strong so they can allow key players to rest before introducing them to regular match time again.

  • It's Matri, not Marchisio

  • Forster, Lustig, Wilson, Ambrose, Izaguirre, Brown, Wanyama, Mulgrew, Forrest, Commons, Hooper

  • Celtic official Lineup?

  • Good luck both of team, show football

  • Official Juventus Lineup: Buffon, Barzagli, Bonucci, Caceres, Lichtsteiner, Vidal, Pirlo, Marchisio, Peluso, Matri, Vucinic Substitutes: Storari, Pogba, Giovinco, Anelka, Padoin, Quagliarella, Marrone Does anyone know why Asamoah doesn't play?

  • vucinic and marchisio to score. class when needed

  • Forza BianConeri

  • Celtic have over - achieved in getting this far and will offer little resistance to the dominating midfield Juventus will impose on them. They will succumb to a loss in most statistical comparisons between the two sides and will comfortably lose to the superior club. This will happen again in a few years time when the superior Glasgow club returns to the SPL.

  • Pirlo could struggle to create much as Celtic's defence has a lot of height in it and with Pirlo's tendency to play high balls towards the wingers/strikers Celtic should be able to win any exchanges n the air. Juventus will certainly be looking to keep the ball on the ground for most of the match.

  • you all suck cock celtic will win

  • Fino Alla Fine, Forza Juventus !!! :D

  • Celtic is celta ?

  • OddsMaestro the same thing they said about shakhtar . only barca beat them in the donbas arena since its opening . we will see 2night

  • Juve will win for sure. Compare the player quality.

  • Juve will win 1-0 in Glasgow and 2-0 in Turin

  • فورزآ يوفي

  • Im sorry for Celtic, cuz they have amazing fans and the atmosphere at Celtic Park is incredible, but Juve is in great form... prob a 1-2.

  • Are you guys paying attention to any of the stats???? Celtic has only lost 2 times out of last 24 home matches in Champions League.. Both to Barcelona.. They beat Barcelona this year with this squad, on this field.. Celtic does not loses at home to anyone..especially with a World Class goalie and midfielder... Celtic +.5 is the PLAY!!!!

  • I believe that this is going to be a very competitive match on the midfield, lots of possession lost, and both keepers are top players, so expecting a tight result for Juventus.. My tips for this match are: Draw at HT @ 2.10 bet365 Under 2.5 @ 1.66 bet365 Juventus @ 1.83 bet365 Correct Score 0-1 @ 6.00 bet365 Maybe try this one out: HT/FT X/2 @ 4.33 bet365

  • Chiellini is suspended, and that's correct, but he's actually injured since December, likely to come back in March (end of February at the very best). And Juve miss him a lot.

  • ManchesterUnited

  • preview goal score

  • This could be a tricky affair, but it is hard to imagine Juve losing this series over two legs. Juve win 2-1 in Glasgow. Go Juve!

  • JUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • Under 2.5

  • I hope that Juventus will win, but recently they have some problem scoring. :(

  • Juve win..

  • GO CELTIC GO!!
