Team News
Real Madrid
Man Utd
- Angel Di Maria has returned from injury and should play on the right, replacing Karim Benzema in that position, who will in turn move up front.
- Iker Casillas is still out with a hand injury so Diego Lopez will play in goal.
- Raphael Varane is also fit to play having made it back from injury in time, but Pepe is likely to be preferred at the back.
- Manchester United have worries over the fitness of Phil Jones and Jonny Evans, both of whom were forced off injured during the win over Everton on Sunday.
- However, both have trained - as has Ashley Young - and all three should be available for selection.
- Nonetheless, Rio Ferdinand was rested for that game and is likely to partner Nemanja Vidic at the heart of defence.
- Paul Scholes has been left out of the squad for the trip to Madrid, and Sir Alex Ferguson could opt to play Phil Jones in defensive midfield along with Carrick and Cleverley as he has done a few times this season, including against Spurs and Everton recently.
Carrick has a great burden today against Khedira & Alonso. I think Carrick and alonso shape will define the result greatly. and anyway, the Battle will be decided by a small details, one ball in the bar another enters the net, that small detalis.
It was a game worth watching
I see lots of goals, with united using the same tactics they did to win at city and Chelsea, defending deep and countering down the right flank, where Madrid are vulnerable,a draw would be a great result with the second leg being a big advantage to united(real playing Barcelona twice in the week prior).over 3.5 /2-2 correct score
the ref is a madrid fan that's for sure
Tought game this will be. Both teams are among the best in the world. Despite MU is in better form than RM. RM will be motivated playing @home, and not having a chance on winning theis internal league, all focus is on the 10th CL cup. But MU in better form, motivated, isolated on top o EPL, will surely have something to say in this game. It will a game with goals, no doubt about it, and the best game of the week. I think all the pressure is on RM shoulders, either they make a good game on their ground, or they pretty much can say goodbye to CL. MU will play with minimum pressure. A 2-1 score will fit MU, im sure RM will try to win at least by 2 goals diference...but against MU it migth not be possible. @wgscheve I think your reading is fairly correct. Hope its a good game, and may the best one win.
@djcdominic: go kiss mansour's balls!
The referee was awkward...
D.López-Arbeloa,Varane,S.Ramos,Coentrão-Khedira,Xabi Alonso-Di María, Özil, C.Ronaldo-Benzema. I think Varane must played, he's amazing now. Man U does not have midfield high quality to give trouble Madrid's midfilders.
madrid really have to win this leg considering they play barcelona twice before the second leg which is at Old Trafford. considering the teams being put out, i think they are pretty even. Ronaldo will probably be fairly quite considering SAF knows him so well and united will put alot of effort into containing him, and i expect rooney to be the focal point for united (he is notoriously good in big games) and i think he likes his deeper role. As for my prediction: the first leg- i think united will win 2-1. the second leg- united win 2-0 for an aggregate of 4-1. This may surprise alot of people but considering the strength of schedual before the 2 legs, real madrids supposed locker room troubles, and Madrids injury problems i dont think they will be able to keep up with united.
Madrid is a different team at home.. Man U does not have midfield quality to give Madrid trouble. Madrid will run all over them.. 3-1 or 4-1 Madrid... Over 2.5 is...THE PLAY
United is in better form, and i'm quite sure they will have more posession, better wing-attack, the real problem is Madrid's counter-attack. So i think will be 2-3 for United.
Sir Alex will probably ask Evra and Rafael to be more reserved as they are normally bombing forward to deal with the threat of Ronaldo and Ozil.
¡Hasta el final! ¡Vamos Real!
Manchester United to win even though CR7 is my favorite player. This will be a great match no doubt.
Man United is going to win treble
the referee is a shabi
United have the advantage heading into the second leg, however slender it may be.
No Di Maria or Varane is ruled out, they are perfectly fine.
1-1 or 2-2
Better wing attack? Are you sick in the head? The wingers for Madrid are Ronaldo and DiMaria. And for United? Valencia/Nani on the right and...Giggs/Ashley Young/Rooney on the right? No matter what combination you look at, Madrids wingers are miles ahead of whoever utd choose to put there.
massive game. Utd at 5.50 is great odds
Can't see Madrid going out at this stage. With the league surly out of reach and the rumors that Mourinho will leave in the summer, I'd imagine he would be desperate to go out on a high by winning the Champions League.
Real madrid= Real ? it's wrong Real Sociedad = Real.
Rooney better than RVP? Joke!
Ronaldo scores, and dont celebrate!
Valet1...Ti idiot.."Betonnaya stavka..LOL" Golovu svoyu betonnuyu prover..KRITIN"
Game of the season ,,
ha ha poor united fans
@pan_slaw Rooney got an assist.
hope Madrid will emerge victorious after second leg
real is home united will play counter and have everyone in the middle 2-1 united
Man United will win. I'm confident
Van Persie is going to be a key player for MU because he has the ability to change games, just like Ronaldo for RM.
Rafael has been AWFUL.
best player to score CR7 and realmadrid to win!!!
Madrid will win the game. Man u are good, Madrid are better. Madrid are going for the champions league and The "Special One" is the Specialist.
