Team News

  • Rodney Wallace returns from international duty with Costa Rica and is expected to slot back into the Portland Timbers line-up against the Rapids.
  • Jack Jewsbury was given the night off in Los Angeles, but he is expected to return to his usual starting spot on the right of defence, with Michael Harrington on the left.
  • Coach Caleb Porter has been quiet on the injury Futty Danso sustained in the win over FC Dallas, with the defender doubtful for the clash against Colorado. Andrew Jean-Baptiste and Pa Kah are expected to start at the back.
  • Head coach Oscar Pareja is still without the injured duo of Jamie Smith and Diego Calderon, meaning he is likely to stick with the front three he fielded against the Chicago Fire.
  • Fresh injuries to Brenton Griffiths, who is out with a shoulder dislocation, and Matt Pickens, out with an arm fracture, have given Pareja more to think about ahead of the trip to Portland.

  • Worries over Futty Danso's absence were allayed as the Andrew Jean-Baptiste and Pa Keh led a stout defence for the Portland Timbers against reigning MLS champions LA Galaxy, recording a goalless draw in California. That partnership will be key if Caleb Porter's side are to get a result against Colorado.
  • The Colorado Rapids are without a win in their last three league outings and will be eager to record what would be an impressive win on the road. Oscar Pareja's side has a good record in front of goal but they come up against an in-form Timbers backline.
  • The Timbers have turned Jeld-Wen Field into something of a fortress this season, although their single loss this season did come at home. Porter's defensive nous appears to be having an effect on his side and should have no problems seeing off Colorado.
