Team News

Italy U21
Spain U21
  • On the back of an impressive 1-0 win over the Netherlands U21, Italy will be full of confidence ahead of the final encounter with Spain.
  • Fabio Borini's winner means he'll likely keep his place in the starting XI. Luca Marrone remains sidelined for the Azzurrini.
  • Following the 3-0 demolition of Norway in the semi final, head coach Julen Lopetegui will likely remain with the same starting XI for the encounter with Italy.
  • That'll mean a place on the bench for tournament top scorer Morata, who again came off the bench to net in the aforementioned victory over Norway.

Prediction

  • It may've taken until the 78th minute, but Fabio Borini's winner was enough to overcome a resolute Netherlands outfit to secure the Azzurrini's place in the final of the European Championship.
  • Italy are unlikely to alter from the same starting XI, which means Lorenzo Insigne will retain his place on the left flank having played 85 minutes of the semi final victory following his return from injury.
  • Morata's four goals is the highest at the tournament, but is unlikely to be enough to convince Julen Lopetegui of a place in the starting XI, with the Real Madrid youngster expected to follow up from his Golden Boot award at the U19 finals in 2011.
  • Spain are also yet to concede at the competition thus far, a record David De Gea will aim to keep as he looks set to earn his 27th cap at this level, equalling that of current assistant coach Santi Denia as Spain's most-capped player at U21 level.
  • Italy's somewhat poor record in front of goal this tournament will likely persist against Spain, with the current holders expected to defend their title successfully. Expect Morata to make this difference from the bench once again.
