Aston Villa
Liverpool
- Ciaran Clark started, as expected, in place of Nathan Baker at Chelsea but picked up a nasty gash to his forehead.
- Paul Lambert has claimed that the defender is likely to be available having had stitches but Jores Okore is ready to step in if he is deemed unfit to play.
- Elsewhere despite playing their third match in a week changes are unlikely after an impressive start to the season.
- Brendan Rodgers confirmed that Sebastian Coates will miss most of the season after picking up a serious knee injury and with Skrtel's future at the club in doubt the manager is on the lookout for a new centre-back.
- Elsewhere Suarez still has 5 games of a suspension to serve so the impressive front three of Sturridge, Coutinho and Aspas should continue.
- After what was a fairly comfortable win over Stoke, despite debutant Mignolet saving a late penalty, the XI may remain unchanged unless Sterling gets the nod over Henderson.
it takes only one player to neutralize coutinho. man marking everywhere on the pitch and that kid will get crazy
Aston Villa 2 - 2 Liverpool
Liverpool have an excellent record against Villa. Both clubs have improved; Villa are in form and Liverpool's performance has become more fluid and entertaining, making Rodgers's system more visible. This will be interesting because Villa's strengths are Liverpool's weaknesses vice versa. Both clubs will create chances and the one who takes them will wing. If Liverpool managed to control Beneteke, and Villa's wings, there's a good chance they'll win. If Villa managed to control forwards, and especially Coutinho, and created efficient counter-attacks focusing on the wings, there's a good chance they'll win.
Benteke vs Mignolet
Benteke-Liverpool 3-1
Villa 2 Liverpool 1.
If we manage to neutralise benteke, we should win this one. Come on you reds, let's make it maximum points and face the mancs with a high morale! YNWA
Villa 2 - 1 Liverpool
Aston Villa 0-3 liverpool
This will be a very good game, but I can't see many goals. Benteke is the obvious threat for Villa, and is very strong in the air. Mignolet was a bit suspect in the first half vs Stoke, when challenged in the air by Crouch. He (Mignolet) admitted he was nervous in the first half, which was understandable as he was making his home debut in a competitive match. Hopefully he'll be confident after the second half of yesterday's game. Liverpool create a lot of chances, but also waste alot of them. Could be very interesting. Liverpool didn't have the best away form last season, but will be hoping to go in to the United game with maximum points.
