Real Sociedad
Atletico
- La Real are on cloud nine after securing their place in the Champions League by beating Lyon 4-0 on aggregate, following a 2-0 win at Anoeta on Wednesday.
- The Basques could only follow their win in Lyon with a draw at Elche and will be wary of the effects of their exertions in the second leg when they come up against Atletico Madrid, who have started the season in blistering form.
- Imanol Agirretxe, Diego Ifrán, Mikel González, José Ángel and Eñaut Zubikarai all remain sidelined with injury.
- Atletico may have missed out on the Spanish Super Cup to Barcelona on away goals but proved they are more than a match for the Catalans.
- Diego Simeone's side stunned Rayo Vallecano last week but know they face an entirely different prospect in La Real, who will be buoyed by their Champions League exploits.
- Raul Garcia and Tiago both impressed against Rayo, with the former netting twice, and may get the nod again so players such as Koke and Mario Suarez can get a rest.
2-1 for Sociedad.
