- Majeed Waris picked up a knee injury in Ghana's recent friendly with South Korea and is a doubt for the opening game.
- Christian Atsu could come into contention to replace the forward, though Jordan Ayew will also hope to start alongside brother André.
- The team should remain largely unchanged from the 4-0 win in their final warm up match, meaning the likes of Essien and Badu may have to make do with a place on the bench.
- Fabian Johnson should be sure to start in either of the full-back positions, with Beasley, Chandler and Yedlin in competition for the other spot in the back line.
- There could be more places up for grabs on the wings, with Davis, Bedoya and Zusi vying for places.
- Jozy Altidore should get the nod ahead of Chris Wondolowski up front having netted a brace in the win over Nigeria last time out.
Pretty tight game. Ghana only have themselves to blame though, lacked so much quality when it came to the final product. (other than the superb goal)

The most emotional world cup I have witnessed. I am afro-Portuguese, and have always supported Ghana as my fav from Africa. Even worse, I have been living here in the states for 7 years. To hard to pick a team. But anyway, I am going with USA. Good lucky Ghana. 2-1 for USA.
I don't think a draw is a disaster for the US because I think they have to beat Portugal either way. To my mind, 3 points with a win against Portugal and a draw with Ghana is better than a win against Ghana and a draw with Portugal, which I don't think would be enough. I say this because Portugal and Germany will I think draw in the first game, and USA will not get a point against Germany. A loss would be disastrous though naturally.
