I just wish Pelegrini doesn't select Nasri nor Dzeko.
Manchester city midfielders need to press and tackle more.
Any way It will be 2-0 for Barcelona :/
@What4 As I understand, players start at a rating of 6 and increase for every good interaction (touches, completed passes, key passes, completed dribbles, shots on target) and is reduced for bad plays (missed passes, losing the ball, unsuccessful tackles etc.).
Players that get subbed off (especially midfielders who haven't scored or assisted) tend to get a lower score because of the gradual way they build their rating. Iniesta would have had more time to make successful passes etc.
I always try to remember that the score can't capture off the ball play, like movement to draw a player out of position or pressuring the ball without attempting to tackle. Nor do they account for the quality, 10 amazing first touches and great passes that lead no where will be rated less than 50 basic trap and pass plays.
City did OK in the 2nd half until Clichy was sent off. After that it was a case of City keeping the number of goals against to 2 which they did with a bit of help from Messi. :-p . Regardless of who should've taken the penalty, there is no excuse for Messi missing the follow-up. It was pretty much an open goal. Maybe he fault Hart would spring up so had to react quick but still a terrible effort. That would've definitely killed the tie (if it wasn't dead already after Suarez's 2nd).
Pellegrini is a failure, always has been. Why would he start Milner against a passing machine? Fernandinho, hell even Lampard has a wider range of passing.
You guys obviously don't get that i question that system.
10 dribbles<2goals any day, anytime.
Dribble= +0.2 for the note, missed penalty -0.1 :) haha...
@wegzon There are opinions about it. Ratings are "arbitrary" since someone assigned random values to stats. IMO dribbles are weighted too high. Dribbling past opponents really shouldn't affect rating unless the dribbles create opportunities.
@khonda actually they do. One player is passed creating space. And why would you think Suarez was motm.Messi played better statisticly and pulled the strings in the game
@wegzon Plus, he (Messi) was actually behind both goals or at least the most part of them. Suarez finished what were set-up well. The first one almost ended up as an assist had the ball not deflected of the defender after Suarez' first touch. The second was just sublime play making, dribbling past defenders, then a beautiful pass after reading Alba's movement who then dished out to Suarez for the finish.
@Ouftey You mean that "poor referee" that gave so many phantom fouls to Man City players who just dived, and ignored masses of fouls on Neymar, Iniesta, and others?? RIGHT. Try again, fucktard.
@khonda Are you a madrid fan. I just dont get why you have to put Barcelona down. Myself I am a Chelsea fan but respect other teams. Not saying fucking childish Penassi and Penaldo things and watch games through some childish glasses.
@wegzon You should probably buy glasses instead of saying useless things... Not a Madrid fan (not because we do not support Barcelona that we are for Madrid boy, not only these two teams in the world), but the second yellow card of Clichy is totally unjustified. And without this, City would probably obtain at least the draw.
Just a fact.
@Ouftey Not a fact. The decision of the red card was harsh but i a yellow was still deserbed from the tackle. He didnt hit the ball and kicked him in the knee area. And about City obtaining a draw why would they have deserved an equaliser. Barca played better in the match and didnt even score the penalty(clear one).
4-4-2 against Barcelona who can dominante teams that have a 3-man midfield. Oh dear Pellegrini. Not the most logical or tactically gifted manager around. Tie over for City now.
i think that Barcelona will be the better side in this clash. Overall they have more quality. There will probably be goals scored on both ends as both sides are good going forward but not that awesome at the back. Logical scores 1-1,2-2,2-1,3-2,1-2,1-3,2-3
Let's see we have Team A (one of the best teams of the 21st century, fielded arguably the greatest team of all time just a few years ago, has the best player in the game, currently has the best attack in the game based on form) and Team B (doesn't even have their best player, has never won their UCL group, has never advanced past the Round of 16, got beat by freaking Arsenal at home). Who wins?
Its barca's game to lose , sure pelle's previous club beat barca this weekend but players at malaga have soul , they arent casual carefree money puppets , they bleed for the fans hence they overcame what looked like unstoppable barca for a period of time. Cant see that happening here , barca win by 2 goals margin
Kompany and Mangala to have errors leading to goals, if they start. Garuanteed. Both are over-rated. Suarez will have Clichy's number. Kompany won't be able to handle Neymar. They will kick Messi to piece, garuanteed. Let's see if the ref is firm with City. Still no Toure, so no chance of City winning.
Man $ity 1 - 3 Barca. Two from Messi, one from Neymar.
An exciting fixture to watch between both teams in the same position in their respect leagues (2nd) can only mean one thing, the will to advance into the Champions League Quarter Final is just as important as the domestic title. Barcelona has an advantage over City, mainly experience and the fact they have been clicking at all cylinders with the exception of the last home game. However, Manchester City have been telling themselves that they have something to prove after last year's defeat. Believing is one thing, achieving is another; can Manchester city shout out Messi and Co? The last time Barcelona were knocked out in the round of 16 dates back to 2007, coincidentally an EPL team (Liverpool) taking care of business en route to the final. They have already taken a step backwards last year missing out on a semi final, first in 6 years. Could they be brought back to earth by the oil rich of City? This might just be another battle between Qatar vs. Abu Dhabi, talk about good publicity!
City is not exactly the team that can knock out barca .City is just hollow club with bland fans backed by oil rednecks. But yeah pelle makes lot of efforts to make them play beautiful. 1-4
Any result in which Barca don't score means City will progress. (0-0, 1-0, 2-0), anything. Barca to progress with any Barcelona win or a draw over 1-1 (2-2. 3-3, 4-4) or scoring loss (2-1, 3-2, 4-3). Just my opinion as a Barca fan. I know my team and I know we need an away goal.
how to beat barcelona
1. Play 442
2. stay narrow. let them cross it
3.stay rigid
4. counter through middle, quick transitions
5.take advantage of set pieces.
Celta vigo, real madrid and Malaga. did this perfectly.
man city need to play 2 up top
@shaan Barca are actually one of the best at defending set pieces this season. The big teams find parking the bus humiliating. Unless you're Chelsea and you don't mind taking the verbal abuse. Doubt City would do it.
@shaan True but then City will risk not scoring at all. They could play like this now but if Barca score and they aren't set up to attack that's the end of the tie.
I think Man City will win and humiliate Barca. Aguero will tear Barca defence, and with Silva and Nasri they have good playmakers. It will be really exciting to see Barca being humiliated again after that match against Bayern in Champions league.
Man City 4-1 Barca
As a Barca fan, I just hope the referee is fair and unbiased. I don't want to lose because he called one of our goals offside, but I don't want to win like that either. Going for draw with over 1.5 goals and under 4.5. May the best team win.
I actually fancy City. Barcelona, for all their class on paper, play like less than the sum of their parts and can have 70%+ possession and still not score. I also don't rate their defence at all, they need their midfield to control to game to avoid being exposed. If the City attackers, namely Toure, Silva and Aguero fancy it, City could score 3. It's a hard game to predict given this Barcelona team can be brilliant or terrible but I said previously I fancy City so will predict 3-1 with Yaya MotM.
@iFahmy- Ah yeah forgot about the red card. I thought he had served his last game. I read a paper article after the Newcastle game on a respected site which failed to mention Yaya will be suspended and actually indicated he could be the difference maker. Oh well. City could very well play defensively then with Fernando and Fernandinho in the middle like they did against us (Arsenal) in the league. They really need a win here because even with Yaya at the Camp Nou it'll be difficult there. I'll re-predict 1-0 City then with Kompany MotM.
Barca won't win by more than 1 or 2 goals. Everyon predicting 3-0 and 4-0 away from home is out of their minds. This is City we're talking about. Barca to draw 2-2 or lose 1-2 for me.
@commandozap Cuz They don't have Yaya Toure in their team, and Aguero doesn't have good form. With 100% their strength plus home advantage they can defeat ANY team ( Bayern, for example ).
@Xuxibo6793 Bayern already qualified and they didn't even play their best squad at that point in the group stage. That's a silly example to use as reference.
I just wish Pelegrini doesn't select Nasri nor Dzeko. Manchester city midfielders need to press and tackle more. Any way It will be 2-0 for Barcelona :/
Lol . There is no MOTM ?
what a selfish pup messi is been , need to be disciplined.
@commandozap hes missed so many penalties, he should have let suarez finish his hat trick
@commandozap you're an idiot
City was trash.
I thought Rakitic was better than Iniesta. Do they lower the score for being subbed off?
@What4 As I understand, players start at a rating of 6 and increase for every good interaction (touches, completed passes, key passes, completed dribbles, shots on target) and is reduced for bad plays (missed passes, losing the ball, unsuccessful tackles etc.). Players that get subbed off (especially midfielders who haven't scored or assisted) tend to get a lower score because of the gradual way they build their rating. Nor do they account for the quality, 10 amazing first touches and great passes that lead no where will be rated less than 50 basic trap and pass plays.
6.6 for Ter Stegen is incredibly harsh.
That would've definitely killed the tie (if it wasn't dead already after Suarez's 2nd).
messi should have let suarez take the penalty
Messi in midfield while Alves/Rakitic striking?!!
Pique deserves a higher rating and Barcelona need to someone else try taking a penalty, no way Messi is the best they've got
Still can't understand why Messi is Barca's PKer when he misses so many. Scoreline should have been higher. Both sides didn't seize their chances.
Pique > all
Pellegrini is a failure, always has been. Why would he start Milner against a passing machine? Fernandinho, hell even Lampard has a wider range of passing.
Barcelona, still cannot kill the game off. Messi's penalty was very poor. Would have ended the tie.
why no red e on Messi?

@Dr.Omar.Medicine.79 well done.check my prediction below.kaaaching.
@Dr.Omar.Medicine.79 Sh*t no.. Please tell I'm going to win the lottery!
@mystic34x I'll tell you in the next time :)
@Dr.Omar.Medicine.79 Anyway, cheers mate. til the next game I suppose. ;)
@mystic34x with pleasure ... but let me think .. You'll find it there
Penaldo would have scored
@tshibuabua cuz scoring pen is too penladostream so messi prefers good goals
@yanis01 Yep, if only that header went in. It would be like that last minute goal against Atletico. Haha
And how on earth can Messi get MOTM over Suarez?
@El_Duderino Whoscored thinks dribbling is the most important part of the game.
@HalaMadrid12 Just a biases madrid fan. If you saw the game yoi could see messi pulling the strings and creating problems.
@El_Duderino 91% pass against 79%. 10 dribbles to none. 3 tackles to 2. 1 offside to 4. 2 key passes to none.
@El_Duderino did you watch the game?? messi was absolutely on fire first half, second half he wasnt that good but still better than suarez
@El_Duderino because his rating was higher..
@El_Duderino because its statistically calculated. There are no opinions in it.
You guys obviously don't get that i question that system. 10 dribbles<2goals any day, anytime. Dribble= +0.2 for the note, missed penalty -0.1 :) haha...
@El_Duderino the penalty miss was -0.6
@wegzon There are opinions about it. Ratings are "arbitrary" since someone assigned random values to stats. IMO dribbles are weighted too high. Dribbling past opponents really shouldn't affect rating unless the dribbles create opportunities.
Actually Messi was the best on the pitch, just because Suarez scored goals it doesn't automatically mean nothing
@khonda Why wouldnt dribbles count. They create space and also lead to chances.
@wegzon can you read? I said they shouldn't count UNLESS they create something. Some dribble do nothing for a team, and shouldn't count.
City would seriously deserve to equalize in this second half-time... But it's hard with such a poor referee
@Ouftey You mean that "poor referee" that gave so many phantom fouls to Man City players who just dived, and ignored masses of fouls on Neymar, Iniesta, and others?? RIGHT. Try again, fucktard.
@Ouftey What did he miscall? Replay shows his decisions were fine. Except for the one where they called a foul on Messi.
@Ouftey what do you expect against Barca? Ref to be on your side? please...
And about City obtaining a draw why would they have deserved an equaliser. Barca played better in the match and didnt even score the penalty(clear one).
@wegzon he got a double yellow. both deserved. So.
referee seems to be giving City free kicks for nothing in this second half
Iniesta...so effortless...beautiful
Messi 10 dribbles ... Manchester City 10 dribbles
What? Mathieu for Rakitic? He was playing sooo well!
@mystic34x It was him or Iniesta. and Lucho loves Iniesta; so...
@mystic34x obviously defending the scoreline with two holding MF-s
@tshibuabua Well yeah there is that but could have been Sergio. Hmm.
These sort of games highlight the gulf in class between teams like barca, madrid and bayern compared to all top PL teams.
City cant defend .
Please bring fernandinho Take off one striker
Not even as half good as Malaga were in both legs.
@Imperial_J Javi Gracia is the name.
Alves hit the post
KOMPANY THE BEST CB IN THE WORLD LOOOOOOOOOL
4-4-2 against Barcelona who can dominante teams that have a 3-man midfield. Oh dear Pellegrini. Not the most logical or tactically gifted manager around. Tie over for City now.
Wonder if Pellegrini knows that it's been ages since someone beat Barca by giving them space and not pressuring the midfield
@khonda maybe he might know it better than you..you know he'd been a La Liga coach for a while
Manchester who? :))))
@GabrielD21 united... LOL
It's the midfielders, I would say... Mostly the crucial part in bringing the ball to the forwards.
2-0!!!!! HART IS JUST HELPLESS WITH THAT DEFENCE
I need Barca 2-0 Win!
Oh! sweet!
30 mins, 0-2, tie over? Lets see...
Suarez loves to prove a point at England doesn't he? Such a great player with a killer instinct! #therewillbehaters

@hasan do you even watch football
@Lucasfernandes He should be higher I think !!
1:2
It is obvious that over 2.5 goals here

@mikers135 sorry but Juve wins.. Barca gets the Draw
@FadedAsGeo City would be very happy with a draw. Not going to happen though.

@LaViola..GOMEZ William Hill.Juve win 2-1 is 8/1 and Barca win 2-1 17/2.Worth a small bet.

@anis0216 you can have your medal mate.I just won me a lot of cash.
I say 2-1 Barca here, 1-1 at the Camp Nou
Let's see we have Team A (one of the best teams of the 21st century, fielded arguably the greatest team of all time just a few years ago, has the best player in the game, currently has the best attack in the game based on form) and Team B (doesn't even have their best player, has never won their UCL group, has never advanced past the Round of 16, got beat by freaking Arsenal at home). Who wins?
@madridistagunner Team C?
Oh, not to mention Team B is English, which never turns out great.
When Barcelona lose with Malaga or Real Sociedad its ok and when someone say City will win or draw with Barca you say noooo Barca must win...
Its barca's game to lose , sure pelle's previous club beat barca this weekend but players at malaga have soul , they arent casual carefree money puppets , they bleed for the fans hence they overcame what looked like unstoppable barca for a period of time. @soul_snatcher True that.
As a Real Madrid fan, I hope all 3 Spanish teams will reach UCL semifinals, especially don't lose against EPL teams.
Yaya Toure missing there is no way that city gonna win it . Lucky if they tie !
1X

City DNB
what's up with whoscored and mistakes lately? Bravo doesn't play CL games, Ter Stegen does, and last season Barca won 4-1 on aggregate not 3-2.
how to beat barcelona 1. Play 442 2. stay narrow. let them cross it 3.stay rigid 4. counter through middle, quick transitions 5.take advantage of set pieces. Celta vigo, real madrid and Malaga. did this perfectly. man city need to play 2 up top

@vikasjoshi9617 One thing is winning, but winning by 3? haha
@vikasjoshi9617 Sorry bro, you're never gonna see that!
Barca can hammer city even at their mediocre best
1-1 draw prediction
As a Barca fan, I just hope the referee is fair and unbiased. I don't want to lose because he called one of our goals offside, but I don't want to win like that either. Going for draw with over 1.5 goals and under 4.5. May the best team win.

@SteveHyland Unless a bus is parked, that 70% goes to good use.
@SteveHyland Yaya won't score and he won't be MotM. Both because he's suspended and won't play this game.
@iFahmy- Ah yeah forgot about the red card. I thought he had served his last game. I read a paper article after the Newcastle game on a respected site which failed to mention Yaya will be suspended and actually indicated he could be the difference maker. Oh well. They really need a win here because even with Yaya at the Camp Nou it'll be difficult there. I'll re-predict 1-0 City then with Kompany MotM.
@SteveHyland If City win 1-0 the tie is effectively over.
It will be a tough match.I would say a draw
Barca won't win by more than 1 or 2 goals. Everyon predicting 3-0 and 4-0 away from home is out of their minds. This is City we're talking about. Barca to draw 2-2 or lose 1-2 for me.
0-3 Barcelona.
i think it's going to be a 3-1 win for barca !!
Although the Barcelona from the last season beat Man. City on both legs, but with this Barcelona, I think there's not so much to worry about!
The way city is playing , it will be an adversity for them if barca frontline take them on.
Barcelona to control possession, predicting a 2-2 draw.
city to win 2-0
@meesh Put city on the right
Barcelona win 2-1
