Reagardless of how boring that match was from neutral point of view, I'm glad Juve progressed to the semis. Not only as a fan, I just want to see these match-ups - Real, Barca, Bayern, Juve. Now that is something to look forward to.
This was a struggle to watch. I don't blame Juve because the onus was on Monaco but, as I said below, the circumstances didn't lend themselves to an exciting game and I think I was right. The only real genuine attempts at goal for either team came either from dead ball situations or long-range efforts and you got the feeling there needed to be a screamer from Monaco if they were to score today. I'm not surprised, Monaco aren't a good attacking team by any stretch of the imagination and Juventus are very organised defensively (as you'd expect) but I did hope Monaco would throw caution to the wind in the last quarter of an hour and they didn't. I fancy whoever Juve face in the semis to be too strong for them, actually I would fancy any quality attacking team to have too much firepower for them over 2 legs, and the 3 other semi-finalists definitely fall into that category.
Juve has nothing to do with the UCL semifinals. But here we are, maybe we can exploit individual black outs, as inter and Chelsea did in the past years, and pass through into the final. Everything can happen in 180'.
Monaco played well but they never really managed to worry Juventus this evening, Buffon has had nothing to do. No more French sides :( see you next year guys and HF in the semis...
@libero In the first leg I watched Juve-Monaco, but it was too frustrating how the referee helped Juventus. So this time I chose to watch Madrid's derby.
@fnck_logic So that means that in the first hand you cared about this match, right? @dSquib is right. We all know how Madrid and Barça matches work here. 200 love-hate comments and 30 normal ones.
it is a chame for the 1st leg penalty. however Monaco is not gonna to exit the game yet. 1:0 to ET and penalty. Monaco proceed to 1/4. we believe you Mont de Claro
@ambrose Only for the group stages. They are now equal with Juve and Leverkusen and behind Atletico (though I'm not watching the Real-Atletico game until later so they could be losing 10-0 for all I know).
Monaco have been good away from home all season. They deserved something from the 1st leg, but Buffon was excellent on few occasions in the 1st half, and Berbatov's header was unlucky. Tonite though, they cannot just sit and wait on the counter, they must win without conceding. I see Juve scoring early 1 or 2 goals and a honourable 2nd half for Monaco with the final score 1-2 or even 2-2 (if Juve step off the gas too much)
I hope I'm wrong but this could be the most boring QF 2nd leg in the last decade. I'm sure Monaco would take penalties from the start and if they score first (if at all), they'll likely sit back and wait for opportunities to counter (which will be few and far between since they're playing an Italian team who wont go gung-ho themselves). If Juve score, they'll park the bus knowing that Monaco will have to throw everything at them to score 3 times so will look to attack on the counter- if at all. Not the best recipe for an exciting game. Maybe if a player from each team gets sent off early, the extra space will entice both teams to attack? Doubt it. I like Kurzawa, he wont be at Monaco next year, ditto for Martial who doesn't seem to be in either the probable lineup or missing players list. If he plays with Layvin, the left side will be where Monaco get most of their joy from. Fabinho needs to step up in the absence of Kondogbia or Pirlo will have a field day. Going with 0-0.
I can see Juventus progressing to the semis with this precious clean sheet they kept at home last week. But this game can go to ET. Don't think either of teams will rush forward being vulnerable to counters.
Monaco may have been unlucky to lose due to the PK decision, but Juve still created the better chances and Vidal should have bagged a couple. Granted Monaco should have scored one also.
For this game I guess Berbatov would concern more than most, I think his hold up play and skill can help Monaco's talented but erratic wide players. But it's not as if he has played superbly this season, just quite well, and Chiellini can handle him.
Don't see Monaco scoring unless early on. Juve are still starting these games nervously which is concerning.
Nevertheless, 0-1.
Toulalan is a miss. Juve could go 352 here. Monaco are going to have to attack Juve which will open up space. Pirlo can usually supply these balls in behind the defence, even more so if there is a high line - its going to be hard for Monaco - Juve into the semi-final for me.
@calciozucchini- Don't get your hopes up for loads (or any) of space at 0-0. Monaco have the most cautious manager in the competition and the last thing they'll do against Pirlo and co is defend a high line even though they need to score. The only time that could happen is if Juve score meaning Monaco will need 3. If Juve score then the tie is effectively over though because they wont defend as bad as Arsenal did in the first leg of the previous round and that's the only way Monaco can score 3 in a game against a top 4 league team.
@SteveHyland Cautious is Italian managers middle names! - nothing new there. The bottom line is, space is something Juve are good at finding because its premium in Serie A - at some point Monaco have to go at them - at some point so space WILL open up. It really depends whether, just like last week, the space provides a shot and the shot is on target - I still believe its a tight game all the way.
2-1 win for Juve. Juve play a tight and controlled game to maintain and build on their advantage. Monaco somehow have a poorer record at home than they do on the road. It all suggests that Juve are in a good position to advance. Forza Juve!
FIFA is glad to announce that Platini is renewing is contract till 2025

One great thing Monaco did was knock out a repugnant EPL club , kudos to them.

Kurzawa was terrible

Juve are tough contendors.
In the whole game, only 5 shots, one on target? mh, good luck in the semi-finals.
wow, Juve win, right back to where we belong.
Grande JUVEEE Heading to semi final Forza JUVEEEE
Little joy for italian football but seriously, Juve is gonna get smashed in the semifinals if they meet Barcaor even worse Bayern ... !
I really wished for Monaco. They were a decent match for Juve.
from now on whatever happen i'm satisfied forza juve ♥
Onwards and upwards! Juve better step up their game in the next round though.
@berhin It doesn`t matter, they can`t step up enough to not getting destroyed next round. Enjoy it while it lasts juve ....

Monaco are a really good team, wow
@bradley.panton They are. Better than when they had more of their "glamour" players, good as they were.
handball for Chiellini, there must be a red card and penalty.
@AndreyNosatii no way, maybe a red card but a penalty no. He was far away from the penalty box
28 comments here, 469 in Madrid's derby. Yup, nobody cares about this match.
@fnck_logic yet here your are

comeback for Monaco !!!!
Funny feeling that Monaco will win this.

juventus win for sure
@wolfmother Woman You know you're a woman You got to be a woman I got the feeling of love
monaco is too weak to defeat juve
@wolfmother reality proof that Juve is too weak to break Monaco's defense. best defense in Europe so far this year
@ambrose Only for the group stages. They are now equal with Juve and Leverkusen and behind Atletico (though I'm not watching the Real-Atletico game until later so they could be losing 10-0 for all I know).
I see under 2.5 goals on this tier, with juvwnus scoring a single winner in the second half.

Calm down... another 3:0 for Juve is coming.
