The result was 2-0, Aston Villa lost again to a London side, the process of the match was extremely like the 0-2 early defeat to Chelsea in Stamford Bridge when Aston Villa conceded one of the goals due to the oppoent's counter back 2vs1, another due to Alan Hutton. We can learn when playing against a big team from London, Villa should treat the opponent's counter back seriously, meanwhile, attack-minded Alan Hutton should be more careful on defence.
@Overmars Ramsey was great to watch today! I thought I saw at least 2 "key" passes. Does anyone know how they judge a "key pass"? Is it cutting out a defender in the attacking third?
Arsenal would go top if Leicester don't win. Not bad for an appalling, ridiculously stubborn and a joke of a manager. Maybe Wenger knows one of two things about management that the fans don't?
@NotBiased- Tell that to the fans who've watched him take charge of squads who regularly underperformed, underachieved and were humiliated in Europe for a whole decade in a row. There comes a point when the buck stops with the manager. We've done well so far this season in the league but it's not over yet and during the past decade either one of two things have happened- we start well then fade or we start badly and have a late run. We could win the league but that's largely because Chelsea have been diabolical, City have been inconsistent and Utd have been indifferent. We have the best chance of winning the league in a decade, yes, but is that because we've been so amazing or because every other CL level team has flopped. I'll leave that for you to decide.
@SteveHyland I understand your frustration but you are late. Investments should have been started long time ago when RVP, Fabregas and Nasri were sold. Large sums should have been spent on players of similar quality. But it took one or two seasons too long. Yet the bottom line is you're on your way up. You're improving gradually. You were third last season and you'd be in top2 unless United suddenly improve. Wenger should be praised for what he has done and owners should blamed for not spending huge sums when other teams were doing exactly the same.
@SteveHyland I don't think it is realistic to expect Arsenal to win the title. I know its quite a few years and all that but you just can't expect to be the best team in the country without proper investment unless of course you have Ferguson at helm. "That" great team which Wenger assembled consisted of mostly young players bought before they were in prime of their careers. Arsenal have never been big spenders.
What Wenger brings is stability. A sort of stability you'd only see from top top managers. If you aren't prepared to throw the money around to buy top talents you aren't going to win anything period. The board should share as much blame if not more regardless of what they have done with the stadium and all that. City and Chelsea have reached where they are because of spending insane amounts on top quality. United are as strong as anyone financially. Squad depth that fans are crying for would be of no help. Squad players won't help you get past the top teams in the land.
Much better in the 2nd half from Villa, they gave Arsenal several nervous moments. And, early days, but Adama Traore seems to be an excellent signing, pace, power and dribbling. Traore, Grealish, Gil, Ayew and Sinclair are something to build a decent team around.
I'd like to see Chamberlain in place of Özil. He has played well in central position before. Although it could result Arsenal to loose points, overburdening Özil might be more costly.
We need Giroud and Walcott to stay healthy. I'd like to see them split time. I would give Chamberlain, Walcott and Campbell a start up front and sub out Walcott for Giroud around 75. Walcott's pace tires centrebacks, then Giroud comes on with his strength in the air, great positioning, fresh legs and eats them up. If Giroud's ankle is a bit sore from Olympiakos, the rest is an even better idea. We also need Chamberlain to get his groove back and a start against a bottom dweller might be just the thing.
I'd like to see Oezil rested. He was carrying a calf injury into the Olympiakos game and we can't afford to lose him along with Sanchez and Cazorla. Giroud was feeling his calf in the game yesterday so might be wise to rest him too. We can go with a front 6 of Flamini, Ramsey, Chamberlain, Campbell, Gibbs, Walcott which should be good enough against a terrible Villa defence.
@SteveHyland You aren't the only one who would like to see Mesut rested. His selection depends on Oxlade-Chamberlain's form, which has been average all season.
@Overmars- I do feel a bit for Alex though. He had a couple of bad games at the begin of the season after having an amazing charity shield game then was taken out. Then he came back into the team, struggled to find form and subsequently got injured again. He really needs 6 or 7 games in a row in order to develop some form. I don't know many non-world class players who could have the staccato season he's had yet still come back at their best.

Ramsey hitting form: 5 tackles, 2 interceptions, 78 passes, 1 key pass, 1 goal.

"The final pass leading to a shot at goal from a teammate"
@ramsey This is the correct definition I believe or something like it.

Gana getting fouled from behind was an "error" leading to a goal? Wtf.

It's sad to see some fans leaving before half time.
@What4- Tbh, that's the best way to protest.
Ozil can't stop with the assists. Brilliant to see a player on form.
1-2 arsenal win

Cant wait to c wenger been humiliated
If things go well it could become a victory for Arsenal ...
Malaysia cup Selangor 1<0 Kedah min3
1-3 Arsenal, Ozil to get injured.
@Zee530 Haha injury predictions. They should add that feature specifically for Arsenal games.
Villa win
0-2 Arsenal. Ozil is a magician. COYG!
A5t0n Villa. 5-0 to The Arsenal.

@SteveHyland Played better in his cameo tonight.
0-2 to Arsenal. Hope Ozil isn't injured. Giroud and maybe Joel Campbell or Theo to score. Ozil MOTM and probably assist.
4-0
@goonergunner I think its too low ...
Surely Arsenal will win here.
