I would usually say there are only 2 times you could/should sack a manager. In the summer (obviously) or, if you're really desperate, before the winter transfer window opens so an interim/new permanent boss can at least get a couple of his own players in. It doesn't really work at any other time. However, I think Utd NEED to sack van Gaal on Monday and bring in a talismanic figure from Utd's glory days of the 90s in the hope it gives the current squad a lift. Purely a risk but as it is, with Southampton playing well and not a single Utd player playing for the manager, they will almost certainly need to rely on getting a Europa cup place via the FA. Cup because they will not finish 5th at this rate. I think Utd's personnel is good. Better than 5th at least and it doesn't need a genius tactician to take charge, just somebody who can light a fire under the players' arses because, atm, it looks as though they simply don't care. Frankly, the Utd faithful deserve better.
@What4 Yes, only english managers know how to play the game. Stop those foreign managers with their weird fancy approach to football. Hail to good old british long ball kick and rush physical play !
@neumi17- He was being ironic given, as is evident from your final sentence, the general view is that British football tactics consists primarily of long balls but van Gaal, after spending a fortune is doing exactly that- even though the Dutch are supposed to play "total" or "sexy" football. Even after 10 pints, Utd's football still wouldn't look sexy.
this Van Gaal should be shown in museum along with dinosaurs with his tactics - pass wide and cross, so useless also corners are so predictable that even walking joke like O'Shea can easily put ball out defending. Allardyce should be Man Utd coach.
@neumi17 Which is curious since Van Gaal has always based his tactics on that kind of wingers. I guess he misjudged and put too much trust in Depay in the summer.
United's bench is full of young players and Donald Love made just his debut. It might be forced by injuries but Van Gaal has always given young players a chance, taken them into first team's training and generally paid interest to them. Looking back to his time at Ajax and Bayern for example, it must be admitted that those clubs have benefited of his work with youngsters. I hope his successor understands a value of that and doesn't just splash 200 millions into a whole new squad.
@neumi17- It's happened to me a few times too. I don't understanding downvoting ANY prediction before the game and I don't understand downvoting a correct one after it. I'm just old-fashioned like that.
Johnson is definitely not taking part... Breaking:
Sunderland announce: "In light of Adam Johnson's guilty pleas, the club has today terminated his contract with immediate effect"
no fellaini, no party

I think van Gaal should resign at the end of the season. He's just not a good enough manager anymore.
Well, well, well, what did I say! Big Sam showing these blasted foreigners how it's done! Van Gall OUT, Allardyce IN!

2013/14. Moyes. 42 pts after 26 games. 2015/16. LVF. 41 pts after 26 games (285 million pounds spent since taking over )
Louis Van Fail has a win percentage several percentage lower than Moyes had looooool
Let's take this time and opportunity...and laugh at Long-Ball United for losing at their own game.

@koziol.mutant- I would happily slag O'Shea off but he almost always seemed to play well against my team!
@koziol.mutant Allardyce would be an upgrade to Van Gaal. The man is a spent force.
Gaal out ! Mou in !
ManU are really missing good 1-1 players that create space on the wings. 2 won dribbles ( one by a defense man) after 78 min is ridiculous...

Louis van Gaal = the foremost proponent of long-ball tactics from 1739.
Martial still at 6.6 depite the goal
@SureTeeBoy Zero dribbles, only one shot, four times dispossessed, zero tackles, no keypasses.. .
LOUIS VAN ALLARDYCE CANNOT BEAT THE REAL MASTER OF LONG-BALL TACTICS.
8-0 shots Sunderland so far
Man UTd trying their best to lose ht, smell ht 1-0 ft 1-2 trick
2:1
@neumi17 You get downvoted here for predicting the right score ? Ok ...

BTTS
@Underpauler Nice call.
1-2
2-0 Utd.
Man United win 2-1. Maybe Defoe to score.
Sunderland playing better recently but unforunately for them so have united. 1-2
I can see Big Sam getting something out of this...
@What4 The better long-ball technician, of course. Louis van Allardyce got nothing on the real thing.
Johnson is definitely not taking part... Breaking: Sunderland announce: "In light of Adam Johnson's guilty pleas, the club has today terminated his contract with immediate effect"
@Overmars, Adidas have also pulled the plug on sponsoring him, and quite right too.
@rogue Thats so stupid. He wouldve been a great model for their new Predator boots
@khonda Top, top qualitee Banter mate!
@khonda Brilliant banter! Hahaha
@khonda- Ha ha.
United win 0-1.
Draw
0-1 United Martial MOTM. Would be great for Sunderland to get something from this but I just don't see it happening.
@Overmars And I was wrong. United are hopeless lol.
2-1 United. Martial in terrific form but I like Defoe or Van Aanholt to snag 1.
2-2
0-2 UNITED!!!
@RedBlackWhite IDIOT. MUG. MUPPET.
@RedBlackWhite Never....
