WhoScored's Premier League Team of the Week: Cole Palmer, Enzo Fernandez, Alejandro Garnacho
Chelsea star Cole Palmer is the Premier League Player of the Week having ended his goal drought in Sunday’s 3-1 win over Liverpool. Blues midfielder Enzo Fernandez also makes the cut, while Leicester, Brentford, Nottingham Forest, Manchester City, Brighton and Manchester United are represented in the Team of the Week.
Jakub Stolarczyk (Leicester) – 7.30
The first of three Leicester players following their 2-0 win over Southampton, Jakub Stolarczyk returned a WhoScored rating of 7.30 in a rare home triumph. The 24-year-old made two saves in a clean sheet-attaining display to return a WhoScored rating of 7.30.
Michael Kayode (Brentford) – 8.20
Michael Kayode claimed his first WhoScored Player of the Match award on just his third league start for Brentford as they secured a 4-3 win over Manchester United. Kayode provided his first Premier League assist with one of two key passes, while five successful dribbles, three clearances, two tackles and two interceptions saw the 20-year-old land a WhoScored rating of 8.20.
Murillo (Nottingham Forest) – 7.99
The star player from Nottingham Forest’s 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace on Monday night, Murillo scored his side’s equaliser shortly after Palace went ahead through Eberechi Eze. The Brazilian centre-back also managed 11 clearances, two interceptions and one tackle on his way to a WhoScored rating of 7.99.
Josko Gvardiol (Manchester City) – 7.44
Manchester City claimed a fifth straight win at Wolves’ expense on Friday night, with Josko Gvardiol solid at the back for the Cityzens. Indeed, the 23-year-old managed two clearances and two interceptions, and made seven accurate long balls, to partner Murillo with a WhoScored rating of 7.44.
Luke Thomas (Leicester) – 7.43
Rounding off the defence, Luke Thomas was unfortunate not to contribute to a goal in Leicester’s 2-0 win over Southampton having made three key passes and fired off two shots against the south coast side. Thomas also made three interceptions to contribute towards a WhoScored rating of 7.43.
Enzo Fernandez (Chelsea) – 7.77
The first of two Chelsea players in the side following their 3-1 win over Liverpool, Enzo Fernandez fired the Blues ahead early on at Stamford Bridge, getting the better of Alisson with one of two efforts. In addition, Fernandez made two key passes, two tackles and two interceptions to help land a WhoScored rating of 7.77.
Yankuba Minteh (Brighton) – 7.86
Featuring on the right flank, Yankuba Minteh scored Brighton’s opener in their 1-1 draw with Newcastle on Sunday, netting with one of two shots. The young winger also completed two dribbles and worked hard off the ball, too, as he made three clearances, two tackles and one interception.
Cole Palmer (Chelsea) – 8.71
With a WhoScored rating of 8.71, Cole Palmer is the Premier League Player of the Week. Palmer ended his lengthy wait for a goal as he struck late on against Liverpool, beating Alisson with one of five shots at Stamford Bridge. Four key passes, three dribbles and three interceptions capped a fine showing from the 23-year-old.
Alejandro Garnacho (Manchester United) – 7.93
While Manchester United fell to a 4-3 loss at Brentford, Alejandro Garnacho still did enough to make the Premier League Team of the Week with a WhoScored rating of 7.93. The young Argentine was directly involved in two of United’s three goals, netting with one of two shots and providing an assist from five key passes.
Kevin Schade (Brentford) – 8.20
Remaining at the Gtech Community Stadium, Kevin Schade bagged a brace in the entertaining win over Manchester United as he struck with two of four shots. The 23-year-old also won five aerial duels to return a WhoScored rating of 8.20.
Jordan Ayew (Leicester) – 7.74
Leading the charge is Leicester’s Jordan Ayew, who earned a WhoScored rating of 7.74 in the Foxes’ home win over Southampton. The 33-year-old netted with one of two shots and was tidy on the ball, too, as he returned a 94.4% pass success rate to round off the Premier League Team of the Week.
