Team News

Middlesbrough
Hull
  • Manchester City loanee Jack Harrison will be hoping for his first start as a Middlesbrough player as the Teessiders welcome Hull to the Riverside on Tuesday night.
  • Top scorer Britt Assombalonga could return to the starting XI despite notching just once in his last 15 appearances.
  • Nigel Adkins will likely revert back to the starting XI that helped record a long-awaited 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest prior to Hull's FA Cup defeat at Stamford Bridge on Friday night.
  • Will Keane, Jon Toral and Seb Larsson are among a host of names likely to be reintroduced, but Kamil Grosicki will also be pushing for a start after his role as an unused substitute against Chelsea.

Prediction

  • Middlesbrough are still struggling for consistency, as has been the story of their season, and followed an impressive 2-1 win over Reading up with a lacklustre 1-0 defeat to Cardiff on Saturday. Tony Pulis needs to get back on track with a win here.
  • Hull's win over Forest just under two weeks ago was their second in 18 Championship matches. The result helped lift the Tigers out of the drop zone, but Nigel Adkins will know his side aren't safe yet and will work to bounce back from his side's 4-0 hammering at the hands of Chelsea.
  • The last two games between these two sides have yielded 10 goals, but with the clubs both struggling in front of goal of late, a similarly high-scoring affair seems unlikely. Expect the hosts to shade the better of the chances in a tight, low-scoring encounter.
