Liverpool goal was legitimate, though Arsenal goal might be too. Mkhitaryan was the worst Arsenal player on the pitch today, should have been taken off after the 1st half. Fabinho clear red, wonderful skill from Lacazette when he scored.
It's difficult to say "we deserved to win", because the difference in overall play wasn't a 3-point difference, but we deserved at least a draw whereas Liverpool deserved a draw at best. I'll just leave it at that. Unexpectedly, we dominated possession and heavily (61% in terms of time with the ball- which gave Liverpool their lowest recording of the season, this a team who edged best-in-Europe Man City 52%-48%). Our press at times resembled the 4-2-4 which Roger Schmidt employed at Leverkusen and with Oezil advanced, we forced a lot of errors from a team who are comfortable with the ball. It is strange to see a Juergen Klopp team 'out-pressed' (for want of a better term) but he was specifically out-German-pressed. Both Torreira (MotM) and Xhaka were excellent whereas Wijnaldum was poor and Fabinho was terrible. Milner played very well but the midfield battle was comfortably won by Arsenal.....
@spectre08- Opta's possessions-based system, used on here, is flawed and correlates badly with actual possession. In terms of time with the ball (chess clock format), Liverpool edged it 52-48.
….. Leno did nothing wrong for Liverpool's goal. He couldn't risk catching the ball and obviously couldn't see behind him. It only bounced into Milner's path because of the deflection off of Rob Holding. Awarding that an error is harsh in the extreme. Had he left it, he would have been criticised so it's damned if you do and damned if you don't in that situation. I'm not sure what he was doing coming out towards van Dijk, which almost gifted Liverpool a goal, though. I'm all for GKs commanding the box but there was absolutely no need to engage the ball in that situation. He did make up for it with two decent saves from van Dijk though and he is so comfortable with the ball at his feet, Liverpool's front 3 backed off on many an occasion- something which would not have happened with Cech between the sticks. All in all, a point against a genuine title contender is a good one. You know your team are improving when you're slightly down about having not beaten a CL finalist.
I think a draw were quite justified result but a scoreline should have been much bigger. Way better performance from Arsenal than I expected considering their record against top sides. Liverpool were quite tame and surprisingly were in trouble. They may have had goal disallowed and van Dijk should have scored at least one because of Arsena's mistakes but in the end they have to be satisfied with a point here. Torreira was very good today and this was probably best performance from Xhaka that I've seen in Arsenal shirt as both made good challenges and positioned themselves well in many difficult situations. Kolasinac, Mustafi and Leno didn't look convincing and I'm wary that our defense will cost us eventually. But there were many positive signs today and a point against Liverpool is honestly very good result.
@Castle- Holding played well though and has done for most of the season. I do think he has to realise that the risk of attempting to play somebody with the pace of Mo Salah offside when we adopt this high a line far outweighs the reward, however. Rob is deceptively quick, quick enough that (along with his long stride) he could match Salah over short and medium distances, so I would like him to just shepherd players in the situations where we saw Salah break free with acres of space in front of him and save the offside trap tactics for in-and-around the area where the whole back line are involved.
@SteveHyland Yes, Holding made important interceptions and was very comfortable with the ball. Bellerin performance was also positive, although he still has lot to do with his defending and positioning. I think our defense can improve when Koschielny and Monreal get back, but their age and fitness is a concern and we might be forced to the market eventually if current options don't improve. The most positive things were that our midfield pair is starting to work (which I actually didn't believe to happen) and our pressing is improving.
@JoeB91 Yes it was a mistake, although not as horrible as in the end of the first half. Goal keeper should be able to direct the ball to less dangerous area. But mistakes happen and he has to learn from them, it's just shame when those errors cost points.
@JoeB91 it is not a mistake at all. Stats man drunk. Thanks for the two teams. We enjoyed a lot. I think arsenal are improving so much, week after week.
@neumi17- Yes, but when PSG played Liverpool in the CL: Neymar had just 2 dribbles and Mbappe 1 (PSG had 5 total, the same number as Arsenal tonight) so clearly Liverpool aren't a team who lose many 1v1 situations, whoever the opposition wingers are. What we can gather from the two games therefore is- Iwobi in half an hour = Neymar in the full 90 and Oezil, Torreira & Bellerin are all as good at dribbling as Mbappe. But we knew that anyway. ;-) ha
@Yman Offside position is when attacking player nearer to his opponent goal line, than both the ball and second last opponent. When Firmino lob the ball, Asst.Referee assumed Mane slightly offside. If it was, Firmino who strike the rebound, it would be a legitimate goal.
The key to this game is Unai Emery - will he look to counter liverpool and hit them with pace and solid defending, or will he be stubborn, play out of the back and try to hold a high line? If he tries to play the same way arsenal has against all of these midtable teams, Liverpool will destroy them. Arsenal can NOT stay high or firmino will simply drop deep and mane and Salah will go wild cutting in from the wings into the channel against centerbacks like Mustafi and Sokratis. If arsenal can be patient and resolute on the counter they can get something here, but with how frail they have been at the back, and how little they have been tested, im feeling 3-1 to liverpool.
1-3, 1-4, 2-3 (an error from Lovren). This is what I see here. Yes, arsenal can score some... they are quite fast on counters, BUT.. their defense is so shitty... they will for sure take a few holes in it.
Some said old Arsenal is back.
Some said Oezil leads by example.
I say Emery needs 4 transfer windows to build the old Arsenal. Definitely, Gunners need a proper leader.
Liverpool to suffer first defeat of the season here. To say Liverpool will just come to emirates and stroll. They are up against a team that the most in-form in the league and is 12 games unbeaten also! If Bellerin and Monreal start then Xhaka/Torreira will be in the middle. Liverpool wont win here! Arsenal 3:2 Ozil and Xhaka on scoresheet!
Well that ARS line up would have big troubles. Lichtsteiner didnt convince me and obviously didnt Emery, too. So duels on the wings are basicly no contest for LP. Ramsey obviously isnt the best DMF. I see a lot of troubles in defence for ARS. They have quite good attack but LP def. is better. So i will narrow it to DEF - LP is better, MF - LP is better, ATT - this is closest area but I would say Lp is better too. Really I dont see how can ARS win :/
Arsenal always concede and liverpool on their day can whoop u senseless add to the fact that liverpool have got a better defense and Arsenals insistence on the goal keeper having the ball at his feet against such fast attackers therefore anything short of liverpool completely outscoring arsenal will be a disappointment cause Klopp also have a good record against Arsenal
First big game for arsenal since the first two games against city and Chelsea. Should be a very exciting game with both teams on good form although Liverpool have some serious momentum behind them right now and anything aside from three points for the reds would be a major upset. Going for Arsenal 0-3 Liverpool
My friend, an ARSANAL fan, was jeering at me for the longest, "ha, lol, Manure, 10th." I replied, "Well bro, ARSANAL is playing with mediocre teams, and they are scoring way above xPG. So, the stats are going to even out." This is the first game for Arsenal where the "evening out" is going to take place. Hope LFC wins 3-0
Arsenal 2 - 4 Liverpool Mane to score. Arsenal can't defend and we could be missing our best full backs. Even if they do play, they either won't be at 100% or have the legs to contend with LFC fast-paced play and devastating speed.
The team with the better defence will win this game, which can only be Liverpool. If arsenal even score against them I'll be very surprised, Ozil can't perform under pressure especially if arsenal is not controlling possession. 2-0 to Liverpool, my prediction.

@SteveHyland They didn't edge man city in possession..City had 51% of the ball compared to Liverpool which is obviously very low for Manchester City.
@spectre08- Opta's possessions-based system, used on here, is flawed and correlates badly with actual possession. In terms of time with the ball (chess clock format), Liverpool edged it 52-48.
@SteveHyland No they didn't..Man city had 50.6% of the ball to be exact..this was man city's lowest possession in the premier league under guardiola.
….. Leno did nothing wrong for Liverpool's goal. He couldn't risk catching the ball and obviously couldn't see behind him. It only bounced into Milner's path because of the deflection off of Rob Holding. Awarding that an error is harsh in the extreme. Arsenal deserved to WIN
@stefanm It's difficult to say when both teams had a decent amount of chances and Arsenal got the equaliser 8 minutes before the end ...
@stefanm Arsenal did play a good match. Create many chances, but the killer instinct only appear in 2nd half. Emery needs to solve the 1st half issue.
Weird. I totally thought Arsenal were the better side here but the stats here say otherwise
@Nanami they are wrong .. stats are not right .. i m sure from that
@ilyass84 How can they be wrong if they are stats ?
no way is that a mistake for Leno
@JoeB91 Yes it was a mistake, although not as horrible as in the end of the first half. Goal keeper should be able to direct the ball to less dangerous area. But mistakes happen and he has to learn from them, it's just shame when those errors cost points.
@JoeB91 it is not a mistake at all. Stats man drunk. Thanks for the two teams. We enjoyed a lot. I think arsenal are improving so much, week after week.
@JoeB91 what about alisson mistake?!!
Neymar had 13 dribbles yesterday. Arsenal has ONE ...

@neumi17 neymar was against lille, arsenal were against decent defence (lol i know it sounds funny but lfc have decent defence)
@neumi17 football is not only about driblles
@stefanm No, that's true. But it is also about winning 1-1 situations...
Mikhitaryan has been very bad in the first half, so he should be replaced by Iwobi in the second half.
Legit goal for Liverpool was ruled out!
@Yman Offside position is when attacking player nearer to his opponent goal line, than both the ball and second last opponent. When Firmino lob the ball, Asst.Referee assumed Mane slightly offside. If it was, Firmino who strike the rebound, it would be a legitimate goal.
@Yman was offside, Mane went for the ball both times
@JoeB91 both times? he did not touch the ball first time and he was onside second time
@fafaq he moved for the ball when the ball first went forward and he was offside
So far, so good from Arsenal. Liverpool have been well below their best.
@footballer554 they (lfc) will be blown apart
Young Obama missed a golden chance!
Liverpool is loooosing
@nekt yeah losing a clean sheet
0-3
Liverpool to win 3-1.
Arsenal/Aubameyang Wincast.
LIVERPOOL Alisson , Alexander-Arnold , Gomez , van Dijk , Robertson , Milner , Fabinho , Wijnaldum , Salah , Roberto Firmino , Mané
ARSENAL Leno , Bellerín , Mustafi , Holding , Kolasinac , Torreira , Xhaka , Mkhitaryan , Özil , Aubameyang , Lacazette

over 2.5 and BTTS
1-3, 1-4, 2-3 (an error from Lovren). This is what I see here. Yes, arsenal can score some... they are quite fast on counters, BUT.. their defense is so shitty... they will for sure take a few holes in it.
4:0 Aubameyang x 3 / Mustafi
@ambrose This Arsenal defence is still prone to errors. No way they'll keep a clean sheet against Liverpool.
what is the % of both team to score playing or over 2.5
@Temitope1989 Put all your money on BTTS
Liverpool 3-1 Xhaka LB?
This will be a very difficult tie but I think Arsenal are in a good shape and can take all three points here. 2-1 win to Arsenal.
@Lums3 which arsenal are u talking about?
Some said old Arsenal is back. Some said Oezil leads by example. I say Emery needs 4 transfer windows to build the old Arsenal. Definitely, Gunners need a proper leader.

@albgunn Ozil is so slow he'll be lucky to get a touch
this is open season, hard to predict but Id put my money on liverpool win in a goal festival
goals goals and goals
2-1, arsenal win
Liverpool win 2-3 Milner to score a penalty

@MUATSCINMA not a fan of arsenal but i just checked out and united did lose many points to this 'mediocre' teams
Arsenal 2 - 4 Liverpool Mane to score. Arsenal can't defend and we could be missing our best full backs. Even if they do play, they either won't be at 100% or have the legs to contend with LFC fast-paced play and devastating speed.
@Overmars no chance buddy. Might as well burn your paper, or throw your money away. Best result liverpool can get is a draw. :)
@daconrad15 ha! That sounds familiar!
