Team News

Cardiff
Brighton
  • With Joe Ralls and Harry Arter both unavailable for Cardiff this weekend, Neil Warnock is short of options in central midfield.
  • Callum Paterson may have to drop back into midfield as a result, opening up space for Danny Ward to start in attack.
  • Nathenial Mendez-Laing, Kenneth Zohore, Lee Peltier and Jazz Richards also miss out here through injury.
  • Alireza Jahanbakhsh sustained a thigh knock in the 3-1 loss at Everton last week and will be assessed, with Anthony Knockaert in line to deputise out wide should the Iran international fail to overcome the issue.
  • Davy Propper and Pascal Groß are also closing in on a return to fitness, but may have to wait until after the international break before they earn more minutes after respective injuries.
  • Despite defeat at Goodison Park, Chris Hughton may resist the temptation to make wholesale changes to his XI.

Prediction

  • Cardiff remain stuck in the relegation zone following back-to-back defeats at the hands of Liverpool and Leicester, but will hope to make home advantage count when they welcome a Brighton side that struggles on the road to the Cardiff City Stadium. Indeed, their sole Premier League win this season came in Wales in a 4-2 win over Fulham.
  • Brighton's three-match winning run came to an abrupt end at Everton last week and Chris Hughton will look to rally the troops for their early visit to Cardiff. That will prove easier said than done, even accounting for the Bluebirds' poor form, with the Seagulls winning only one of their last 19 away league outings.
  • A low scoring draw could be on the cards in Saturday's early kick off.

  • Anyone else think Brightwon will get a cheeky win?

  • @L.Acrobat yes, that's 0-2 for away team

  • x2, more agreesive brighton than cardiff. goal from long shot.

  • in my opinion there will be goals here. cardiff the 2nd worst in epl in terms of individual quality but they play like a team, all on the same wavelength. camarasa is a decent set piece taker and stats here say cardiff have a slight advantage in height and in aerial duel success rate so i believe they will be able to find the net. brighton has better players and have the advantage on teh ground - knockaert and izquierdo are pacey, murray good finisher while march, stephens and kayal are good off the ball. i think this is anybody's game and as long as both view this game as winnable then we should see goals

  • X
