Team News

Brighton
Chelsea
  • Shane Duffy is suspended for the home side and that should see Leon Balogun continue alongside Lewis Dunk at the heart of the defence.
  • Alireza Jahanbakhsh has returned to training and comes into Chris Hughton's plans, though he may start from the bench if called upon.
  • Jose Izquierdo faces a late fitness test here, but Hughton may continue with the same XI that started at Burnley last week.
  • Maurizio Sarri is without injured quartet Victor Moses, Marco van Ginkel, Gary Cahill and Alvaro Morata due to injury.
  • Mateo Kovacic is a doubt with a thigh problem and is unlikely to be risked, with Ross Barkley and Ruben Loftus-Cheek competing to deputise in midfield.
  • All in all, Sarri should go with what is his strongest XI.

Prediction

  • Brighton saw a three-match unbeaten run come to an end at Burnley last week as they fell to a 1-0 defeat. Back on home turf, though, they should be confident of picking up a positive result having lost just once and winning four of seven at the Amex in the league this season.
  • Chelsea, meanwhile, have won only two of their last five league matches, but did blow the title race wide open with a 2-0 win over Manchester City last weekend. They have lost back-to-back away league games, however, and faced a tough midweek trip to Hungary, where they were held to a 2-2 draw.
  • Given Brighton's home form this season, the home side will be confident of landing a positive result here.

  • I hate it when Hazard plays as a false 9. He never touches the ball

  • @Stroke Yeah right, assist and a goal, sooo bad at false 9 :D

  • @Stroke Chelsea has more chances to win if they play as 10 without any striker

  • @fervour21 No, we just don't have a striker

  • @KiraFabri agreed

  • unfortunately morata is out but anyways hazard back in the score sheet after a long time and a giroud goal will earn chelsea a win plus another clean sheet for kepa ariz

  • @bryayz I think you mean "fortunately" . Morata is a terrible player and negatively affects Hazard. He needs to be as far away from the starting XI as possible. Giroud is much better than him

  • @excalibur - If Morata were a terrbile player, would he play for Real Madrid, Juventus and Chelsea? The problem is that the former two used him in a role which suited his strengths. He plays pretty energetic, he plays direct, he runs the defence into the ground, but he can't do much with the ball and he's much more effective as a sub. He had more sub appearances for both Madrid and Juve than starts for a reason. They didn't force him to be something he can't be: a consistent starting striker at a top, top level club.

  • Chelsea will win

  • Chelsea to lose 2-1

  • 1-1 Andone

  • Chelsea to win by 1 goal, 0-1

  • @koziol.mutant I'll be shocked if Brighton do not draw 2-2.

  • 0-1 Chelsea

  • Chelsea win.

  • Bold prediction by Whoscored. I respect this prediction. However, I think Chelsea will win this game by about 3 goals. Given that they beat City last weekend, they'll be confident coming here. As for the Wolves game, they've probably learned not to be complacent against weak teams. I think they'll bounce back from the Wolves game here. 3-0 to Chelsea.

  • @tboyjojo They also couldn't win in Hungary.

  • @This_Pro_Boiii And you dont have a clue why? Dont you feel the difference? omg..

  • @This_Pro_Boiii u must be a really smart fella

  • @This_Pro_Boiii yes, but that was an unmeaningful match in which they played all their substitutes and young players. And they were unlucky to have conceded an own goal.
