@neumi17 It ended 1-1 after regulation time, with Netherlands needing a set-piece goal to level things up. It's hardly a vindication of the Dutch "philosophy".
Notice how each team made 4 substitutions... And yet some people on this forum insist that the winner of this tournament is the best team in europe :( .
@k.1 - Other comedy tournaments which allow the 4th sub in extra time: the World Cup, the Euros, the Champions League and the Europa League. You haven't watched a match in a year and a half, have you?
@andrew7taylor I only watched the first half of this match because its intensity was crap, hence my mistake. I actualy acknowledges that I didnt know that the changes were made in extra time. Check comments before u post
what w weird team news, it's been 5 days, and they had a few weeks between season end and champions league final. Of course Van Dijk and Wijnaldum will start
@neumi17 If he were a betting man, he would have lost (like I did). England parked the bus like Mourinho's finest teams to earn a draw in regulation time.
Winks is a big miss. He was the best midfielder on the pitch away to Spain and was Spurs' best player last night. He's our most comfortable player on the ball and is underrated defensively. Looking at our midfield without him in resembles a Hodgson-era setup and the CM in general is our weakness even with everybody fit. I'd still retain the 4-3-3 because it's our most fluid system but a midfield of Henderson, Dier and Alli looks, frankly, rubbish for 2019. All 3 are average ball retainers and limited passes. I would like Barkley to start but Dele seems to be undroppable. Luckily we have a sturdy defence and an excellent front 3, subject to Kane's form, so are able to play quite incisive counter attacking football. Holland have had a resurgence since a change of management (and I'm sure a moment of honest reflection) and there are a few good youngsters coming through. It should be a tough game but I would expect us to win, 2-1.
@SteveHyland I agree with your line up apart from Kane; he didn't look good against Liverpool and I don't think he can do any better against van Dijk this time either. Rashford would be more logical choice. England must start to bring new midfielders in, Maddison and Oxlade-Chamberlain would be good options to consider in the next autumn already. The DM is still their weakest position, maybe Rice can fill that spot. Only other decent option seems to be Henderson (Wilshere's international duties might be over because of his fitness problems, and he's not a ball winner either). As for this match, Netherlands have gotten their team play back and could have an upper hand against England. I call it draw or 2-1 win for Netherlands.
@Castle- Oh, Kane will play unless he's injured. I'm resigned to te fact that he'll start and be captain whenever fit, irrespective of form, for the next 4 or 5 years at least. We have a dearth of quality #9s unfortunately. I'm a fan of Maddison, he should be Arsenal's replacement for Oezil and can play in a 3-man CM too. He, Winks, Rice, Barkley and Loftus-Cheek should be our "to pick from" midfielders going forward but that will likely only kick in from the 2022 WC qualis. It takes ages for the national team to move on. See: Beckham, Gerrard, Lampard, Scholes, Rooney etc.
I see Inklnad winning this tie despite my fondness for Netherlands. I see England even dominating this game. England had 7 starting member in Champions league final in the magnificent Wanda Metropolitano stadia (Tottenham had 5 and Liverpool had 2) and 10 overall who played in the finals in one shape or another. England also had 3 representative who played in Baku both as a starting player and as a substitute. So basically England 13 players who have played in both champions league and europa league finals. This alone gives England a huge huge psychological edge. Hoping for a Netherlands victory. But realistically 3-1 in favor of England
Here is the most clear example why your rating system is awful, Depay with MOTM, no errors leading to goal for Stones, really Whoscored?
14-3 shots on target !! The Netherlands just hammered England ...

@k.1 Only Ronaldo's fans insisting that, this tournament is the most important tournament in football history :-D
@k.1 LOL. U are right. Only saw 60 mins or so... The game looked so slow and boring but i guess it got more exciting

@k.1 The game went to extra time, hence the 4th substitution.
no error for stones?
Haha! Predicted both exact result and motm... :)
@JohnBenjamin Not on this page
Stones just isn't a defender, is he?
@Aereze What is he ?
@neumi17 He's also a good Offender
Good match by Walker and Stones... hahahah
More exciting and fun match than UCL finals, again :-D
Clear foul on Dumfries in the 51st minute on the edge of the box, Netherlands robbed.
Three lion will carry the day
@Rockyay1 And shure they did ;-)))
As usual, the team with less possession will win the match. I would be shocked if Holland didn't win 2-1.
@SeuneMilmas Wow. Predicting England to have more possession than Netherlands is your worst prediction yet.
@richccfc Southgate is a Pep Fraudiola fanboy, as demonstrated by the two silly goals that England conceded from playing out of the back.
I hope the English fans will be on their best behavior in Portugal
There will be OVER 2.5 GOALS for this game in Portugal.

I'm just eagerly waiting for this match and outcome. Dutch will thrash English today mark my word it's 4-1
2-2
Nederlands to qualify!
ENgland show ? Help misters
I'm curious to see how Netherlands will play...They have been selecting good players for the squad and improving
@hellreaper tip for match?
The statistics of English style football against Dutch/Spanish types of footy is not positive for the former. Thats why I put my money on Holland.
@JohnBenjamin Good reasoning and choice ...

1-0 by best Dutch player at the moment Memphis Depay!
@stefanm 13 goals and 10 assists for the Netherlands in his last 21 games.
@stefanm hope so.
