Team News

Norwich
Newcastle
  • Norwich were missing their first-choice centre-backs in Christoph Zimmermann and Timm Klose in their 4-1 defeat to Liverpool last weekend and it showed with some poor defending at Anfield. Both will continue to miss out here.
  • Daniel Farke has confirmed Alexander Tettey is available after missing their league opener, while deadline day signing Ibrahim Amadou could also be involved after a week of training under his belt. Mario Vrancic is also in better condition to feature.
  • Norwich will, however, be without Onel Hernández for roughly three months after he injured his knee slipping at home.
  • Summer arrivals Allan Saint-Maximin and Jetro Willems both made their Newcastle debuts from the bench in their opening weekend 1-0 defeat to Arsenal but the former is now a doubt here.
  • Jonjo Shelvey picked up a knock against Arsenal but Bruce later confirmed the problem was not serious. The Newcastle boss will hope to have the midfielder available here.

Prediction

  • Norwich played some great football against Liverpool and caused the European champions really problems at times but they also looked a complete mess in defence and shipped four goals. The newly promoted Premier League side will need to improve at the back otherwise they will find it difficult to simply out score their opponents in order to survive.
  • Steve Bruce lost his first game in charge of Newcastle, as the Magpies fell to a 1-0 defeat to Arsenal. Bruce cannot afford a poor start to life at Newcastle as their supporters won't need any excuse to pile the pressure on the 58-year-old.
  • The last four encounters between the two sides have seen an average of 6 goals per game scored, so fans could be in for a thoroughly entertaining match, particuarly in the way Norwich defend and attack.
