Team News

Aston Villa
Everton
  • Having now lost the opening two matches of the season fans will be expecting a shake up in the lineup from Dean Smith, notably in the wide positions.
  • Ahmed Elmohamady and Neil Taylor have been surprise inclusions until now, with Frederic Guilbert and Matt Targett yet to feature, while Anwar El Ghazi has underwhelmed and my be replaced by Jota.
  • Douglas Luiz had an eventful home debut last weekend, committing an error leading up to what proved to be Bournemouth's winning goal before firing home a superb consolation goal himself. The Brazilian will come back under pressure from Conor Hourihane.
  • Lucas Digne was withdrawn late on against Watford with a thigh problem but has returned to training and Leighton Baines will also be fit for the trip to Villa Park.
  • Former Villa man Fabian Delph remains sidelined and therefore spared what would no doubt have been a very frosty reception from the home fans had he made the matchday squad.

Prediction

  • Without a point from their opening two matches back in the top-flight, thus far it's been individual errors that have cost Aston Villa from getting a result.
  • The performances have been decent in patches from Dean Smith's side, but Everton will prove to be another tough test for his new look squad.
  • Marco Silva's side are the only team yet to concede after two matches and while they have scored just once themselves, both may well change on Friday night.

  • Imagine giving a forward £36m then make him play for only 30 min. Everton well deserved to lose here, I hope they'll learn from their mistakes.

  • Kean must start next game for the Toffees

  • @Terry and iwobi

  • awful first half by everton

  • This could be a great game. Everton has the potential this season to present something positive while Aston Villa despite its 2 lost matches (and zero points) is gradually improving. My bet for tonight: Both teams to score.

  • @Betmenu I would be shocked if Everton are capable of scoring. This is obviously a 1-0 Villa win.

  • Everton have done well to keep clean sheet in both of their matches after loosing Zouma and Gana during the summer. Their attacking needs a huge improvement, though. Maybe Kean can add the threat they've been missing since Lukaku's departure. Dinge will be even bigger thing this season, in both ends of the pitch. It will take tame for Villa to find their form in the league; 0-1 or 0-2 for Everton.
