Team News

Arsenal
Tottenham
  • Unai Emery is without Hector Bellerin, Konstantinos Mavropanos and Kieran Tierney for the welcome of Tottenham.
  • The Arsenal boss will hope to be able to call upon Mesut Ozil and Rob Holding in some capacity, with the duo closing in on a return to fitness.
  • Emery may revert to a 4-2-3-1 setup having started in a 4-3-1-2 at Liverpool last week, with Alexandre Lacazette coming back into the side.
  • Sead Kolasinac may feature at left-back as Nacho Monreal closes in a move to Real Sociedad.
  • Tottenham have real problems at right-back with Juan Foyth, Kyle Walker-Peters ruled out on Sunday and Eric Dier a doubt. Serge Aurier looks set to make his first Tottenham appearance since February.
  • Summer signing Tanguy Ndombele will miss his first north London derby through injury, joining Ryan Sessegnon on the sidelines.
  • Jan Vertonghen and Christian Eriksen may both come into the side, with the former in line to make his first start of the season.

Prediction

  • Arsenal fell to a 3-1 loss at Liverpool last weekend, but after back-to-back wins to kick off the season, they'll be happy to have six points on the board coming into the welcome of Tottenham. The Gunners are unbeaten in their last five home league meetings with their north London rivals and have lost just one of their last 19 Premier League outings at the Emirates.
  • Tottenham will be looking to bounce back from their disappointing 1-0 defeat to Newcastle last weekend, but having failed to win in seven on the road, that will prove easier said than done on Sunday. Arsenal have looked hugely impressive going forward and their exciting attack is one that should worry Spurs.
  • Indeed, Arsenal are the more confident of the two sides coming into the latest installment of the North London Derby and they should earn all three points in this one.

  • Do you not include Sokratis or Luiz as an error leading to that goal? Or Xhaka for the penalty?

  • @Goonerwin Luiz was in his position, Sokratis was at fault.

  • great match.

  • Pepe is bargain even he didn't score yet, his moves and dribbles are potentiel.

  • Emery killed the team by changing Laca, and then by bringing inn Mkhetaryan.....ceballos done well

  • @ClassicGon laca was injured and asked to go off mate

  • @AdamTester82 Even then, Nelson should have came on. Bizarre to play Mkhitaryan for him to leave on loan the day after.

  • Lucas Moura would have done much more than Lamela and Dale.

  • Great game by Guendouzi ! Too bad the substitutes were poor for Arsenal. Maybe Martinelli deserves a better chance.

  • Well, Tottenham could've won but Sissoko decided to shoot down an airplane instead of passing to Dele.

  • Arsenal to the other top 6 clubs: 'Am I a joke to you?'

  • Well, Leno gave a rebound in the goal, but where was Sokratis at that moment? or another defender? Hotspurs are pushing gunners to their box; and the only clear attack Kolasinac slipped by his way, finally. Weak start from gunners..

  • Draw or spuds win

  • 2-2

  • @nexus747 I'll be shocked if Arsenal do not win 4-1

  • @SeuneMilmas getting shocked a lot lately, aren't ya?

  • Shame ndombele isn't available today. If Arsenal play the right first 11 they'll probably win 4-1. Hopefully, they won't. The only real certainly is that there will be a penalty.

  • I hate Spurs but like Poch. What do I do?

  • like I said against liverpool, if Emery start with Pepe-Auba-Laca in front and put Torreira in the starting XI then we have a win here otherwise pure rubbish......the trio (Pepe-Auba-Laca ) must play more minutes together, Torreira even if he have a bad game ( and that is rarely) he's better than everyone else. for me 3-1 .

  • 1 goal margin for Arsenal win

  • £17m is the fee Betis put on the table to buy Fekir (one of the best creators of modern day football along Modric and Pjanic ).But Arsenal choose to loan/buy Ceballos and try to figure out what type of player is he or what is his best position in the field is.Is he a midfielder, a left winger, can he play behind the strikers?Nobody knows. But we ,the Arsenal fans , always look behind at the glory years and hope some miracle is gonna happen.Kroenke out !

  • @alxdru Looking forward should be the way, especially for the younger Arsenal fans. 15 years is a long time. I hope they atleast do good in the cups this year. A new Bergkamp, Henry, Ljungberg, Pires, Vieira, Campbell or Fabrégas is needed. Right now it feels like the PEA (Aubameyang ofc) is one of few "superstars"

  • The average possession stats are still strange. Arsenal should either be 52.3% (Time With the Ball) or 59.1% (#Possesions) but are 56.5%. Spurs should either be 58.7% or 65%, respectively, but are 59.9%.

  • @SteveHyland Whoscored stats are correct other than their average possession stats which have been wrong from the start and they should really fix this issue.the average possession stats are wrong for all teams(lower than what the stats should actually be)

  • 2-1 Pepe

  • If you can’t beat a poor Newcastle at fortress spud...but this fixture is a bit like a cup tie and you can throw the form book out - but 2-1

  • Xhaka and Torreira in midfield have down well in recent times when paired. I think Monreal is not good enough as we saw at Anfield and Kolasinac offers more to the attack playing the wing back role. Maitland-Niles is also pretty rubbish so definitely we are missing Bellerin and Tierney to come in. Guendouzi is a Elneny with an Afro. He is such a basic ball passer, has poor stats for a central midfielder. Having witnessed Emery bottling it in every big game I am expecting him to start with a weird line up and formation. In this game we can draw or lose. Tottenham will raise their game at emirates and Unai Emery will have the routine shocker tactically like he always does!

  • I don't like it when people predict such a high score win for Arsenal. Arsenal normally don't win when the expectations are so high. I'd take a 1-0 though.

  • @Gooner09 Totally agree

  • Hoping for an XI of: Leno, Maitland-Niles, Chambers, Sokratis, Kolašinac, Torreira, Guendouzi, Ceballos, Pépé, Lacazette, Aubameyang but David Luiz, Monreal and Xhaka will likely start in a 4-2-3-1 so my hopes are slim. Both teams (and Chelsea and Man Utd) have been very good and poor at the same time. Shrödinger managing four teams it seems. I expect that to be the case for the whole season and it will make for an exciting race for positions 3 & 4. My head says draw for this game but I always predict an Arsenal win in this fixture at the Emirates so get ready for an error-strewn affair resulting in a 3-2 Arsenal win.

  • @SteveHyland I think Monreal may have left for Real Sociedad by then but I mostly agree with your team. However, I doubt Emery will drop David Luiz and Xhaka. Im predicting a 2-1 win for Arsenal.

  • @Overmars- I agree. Assuming Monreal is still here, I think the team will actually be Leno, Maitland-Niles, Sokratis, Luiz, Monreal, Guendouzi, Xhaka, Pépé, Ceballos, Aubameyang, Lacazette in a 4-2-3-1.
