Liverpool

Arsenal
- Adrian recovered from an ankle injury to start against Southampton last weekend and will continue here with Alisson still sidelined.
- Dejan Lovren and Naby Keita are still doubts for Liverpool but neither would have started anyway.
- Joel Matip and Joe Gomez are in competition for a starting berth alongside Virgil van Dijk. The latter could get the nod here to combat Arsenal's pace in attack.
- Fabinho and Jordan Henderson will return to the starting XI after dropping to the bench against Southampton.
- Georginio Wijnaldum, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner are in competition for the final spot in midfield.
- Granit Xhaka has recovered from a back injury and is expected to return to the starting XI for Saturday's trip to Anfield.
- Mesut Ozil has also recovered from illness but will more than likely have to settle for a place on the bench.
- Club-record signing Nicolas Pepe is being eased into life at Arsenal but Unai Emery may choose this game to unleash the forward.
- Joe Willock and Reiss Nelson have been surprise starters in Arsenal's first two league matches but both youngsters could make way here.
Dysfunctional tactics from Emery and David Luiz showed why it's dangerous to put him in a back 4. Not sure why he doesn't have an error next to his name for Salah's 2nd. Luiz should gave watched how Rob Holding had Mo in his pocket last season at the Emirates, you don't dive in at a player as good and as quick footed as Salah. It is what we Gooners slate Mustafi for. On the plus side- Pépé was very good as were Guendouzi and Willock. Torreira and Lacazette also looked sharp when they came on. I had expected Unai to gave a set formation by now but he is still using horses-for-courses tactics (especially away from home) and today he used a rocking horse. I was amazed that while we were yielding chance after chance, he stood there watching. We had nothing to lose when 3-0 down but he did a Wenger and waited too long to make a formation and personnel change. Setting up as a 4-3-1-2 required us to execute the gameplan perfectly while hoping Liverpool were off form. The probability was low.
Arsenal starting XI was so irrelevant.. I do understand Emery intended to create counter attack chances. But even if Pepe had opened the score. They'd still took 2 or 3 goals. You play 4 3 1 2 when you have super full backs and super midfielders. Not starting Torreira (their best 6) Lacazette (Very good in counter attack playmaking) and Mikhi (Same as Lacazette and good in pressing adverse 6) was ununderstadable
@G_Fauvana You know better than Emery. For sure.
@Gronounours- How is he wrong based on what we saw? If a manager gets it wrong then he gets it wrong. The fact it is Emery's job means nothing. There are cases of amateur mathematicians correcting formulas, amateur chemists discovering what hasn't been so by professionals etc. Using your logic, their theories would be incorrect because they were not getting paid. The only difference is that they were able to show that they were correct and @G_Fauvana cannot.
@Gronounours I cannot not understand and know better =/
that is why zidane did not wanted ceballos.
BREAKING: David Luiz announced he is retiring from football.
And Arsenal fans landed safely on the earth
EPL is the best 2 horse race in Europe.
Pepe was quite good
The Gunners' gunpowder got wet, don't worry it'll dry by next weekend.
For the love of clean sheet! Come on!
Mighty Liverpool against some Europa League team, we knew how this was gonna end.
What a childish penalty by David Luiz,!
Liverpool are better team, I think tough in the goal Matip fouled Sokratis, seemed he won the position pulling out Greek defender.
FIVE out of FIVE away wins so far today! can Arsenal make it six from six?
Arsenal +1.0
@ibigbet.com I would be shocked if Liverpool do not win 4-0
3-2
Firmino scored 8 goals in 8 matches against Arsenal but this game can be different for him.Arsenal finally has a midfielder that tracks back -Guendouzi- he made a clearance off the line and almost stopped the goal last week. Liv 2-2 Arsenal but no Firmino goal.Maybe Wijnaldum : )
The match of the weekend! Liverpool win!
What they did to whoscored? It's more 1xbet ads than actual content
Liverpool 2-1 Arsenal
If Emry have ballz here ( play offensive game since our defense is poor anyway) we gonna have at least a draw, I hope we start with the trio (Pepe - Auba - Laca) in attack and also give a place to Torreira in the starting XI.......I think it's gonna 3 -3.
Don't know if anyone shares the same opinion... it will be an utter downer if klopp plays J.Gomez at full-back ahead of Trent. A killjoy too if Matip sits on the bench!!!
@LFCforever your two mates created the first goal!
4-1
4-0 Liverpool I don't know why everyone is suddenly doubting Liverpool while throwing Arsenal into the title race when Liverpool have had a much better start
@Yanited X clear 2-2 here result mate.
@stefanm Don't you get tired of always hating on Liverpool, where is that clear 2-2? you are just a fanboy with a bias agenda.
@stefanm Arsenal's attack relies on service, and Liverpool will nullify said service. Aubameyang and Lacazette aren't like the 'fab 3' - they can't create chances out of nothing
Reading between the lines of Emery's press conference, it is highly unlikely that either Xhaka or Özil will start. If we switch to a 4-3-3 (fingers crossed) then I'd expect Guendouzi to play as the central of the midfield trio. I would also have Torreira mirroring Wijnaldum rather than Henderson. Not a big deal, I would just prefer our best defensive CM to shadow their best attacking CM. You'd fancy Liverpool to win but I'd just like to see us compete, to show a discernible improvement and give Gooners hope.
Arsenal will not lose coming into this match. Liverpool’s whole backline look shaky and not on form. Arsenal have a better midfield right now. Everyone is underestimating Ceballos, Pepe and devastating form of Aubmeyang and Lacazette who have been so consistent. 2:2. There’s players in this Arsenal team that could change games. Draw!
I think both Ceballos and Torreira will start for Arsenal.
Aubameyang, [ Liverpool 3 : 1 Arsenal]
2-0
1-1
How are WhoScored calculating average possession this season? Using Opta's "number of possessions" method, Arsenal have averaged 64.7% and using the chess clock "time with the ball" method, we've averaged 56%. We are listed, on the WS Premier League summary page, as having averaged 60%. The only way that works, in lieu of a formula which I'm unaware of being used, is if you take the average of the average of both methods (60.35%, rounded down to 60%). That doesnt work when looking at Liverpool's totals, however. #Possesions= 60.9%; TWTB= 58.5%; Avg of avg= 59.7%; WS avg= 56.7%.
@SteveHyland Whoscored should fix their average possession stats.
@SteveHyland sounds completely haphazard af
@SteveHyland Yes, whoscored.com we want to know please .
@MEHJones- The maths doesn't even makes sense if one week was recorded as TWB and the other as #P. I never took notice of the possession listed on the summary page after the first round of games unfortunately.
