- Steve Bruce will hope to have Jonjo Shelvey available on Saturday after the midfielder missed the defeat to Burnley with a slight calf injury. The same is true of Miguel Almiron, who is suffering from a hamstring issue.
- DeAndre Yedlin was back on the bench last weekend and will hope to regain his place in the starting XI at right-back.
- Joelinton and Andy Carroll started together for the first time against Burnley and Bruce may stick with the pair given both Matt Ritchie and Allan Saint-Maximin are unavailable to play on the wing.
